Missing lug nut?
I got a flat tire (front right one) today on the highway after hitting a random sharp object in the road I didn't see in time. Called AAA, guy came out and put my spare donut on. Said my tire was beyond repair. I drove to the nearest Discount Tires and lo and behold, of course, they sold me on four new tires. $1,100 was the total price for installing all four, plus a great warranty (80k miles). As they're trying to put on the new tire in the front right, the guy comes in & asks who changed my flat. I told him it was someone from AAA. He said the way AAA guy changed my flat meant that the Discount Tires people would have to snap one of the lug nuts off the stud in order to change it. Said there was no other way. I gave him permission to do what he needed to. Then he comes back & says that they cannot replace my missing lug nut and i will have to go to a brakes plus. Well now I'm getting quoted $75 at Brakes Plus just to change one lug nut. I know part of that cost is labor, but JFC. Is this normal? I drive a 2017 Subaru Outback. There are 5 lug nuts on this tire, one is missing so down to 4. FWIW, i don't know jack squat about cars, so no i will not be attempting to change it myself.
