Switching from QuickBooks to ERP for manufacturing?

If you work in manufacturing, what pushed you to add an ERP or manufacturing system? I am speaking with a smaller manufacturer that currently uses QuickBooks for accounting and spreadsheets for inventory, production and purchasing. They are trying to find another system that will eliminate the spreadsheets. What problems were you trying to solve when you made the switch, and which one did you choose?

Working parents, who manages your kid’s adhd meds long term?

My son’s pediatrician brought up medication as something we may discuss after his ADHD evaluation and I realized I have no idea what the practical side of this looks like.

Does your regular pediatrician manage it? Did you eventually need to add a psychiatrist? How often are the appointments once everything is established?

I’m not asking whether we should medicate him. That’s obviously for us and his doctors to figure out. I’m trying to understand the logistics because we’re already juggling work schedules, school meetings, therapy, and everything else that somehow only happens during business hours.

How does therapy for ADHD work when your kid can’t sit through therapy?

Genuine question. My 9 year old can talk for 40 straight minutes about Minecraft but if you ask how something made him feel, suddenly he has never learned a single word in his life. We’ve been told therapy might help with frustration and emotional regulation, but I cannot picture him sitting across from someone doing normal talk therapy. Parents who have tried therapy for adhd at this age, what does a session actually look like?

What restaurant forecasting software are you using to predict sales more accurately?

For owners with multiple locations, forecasting sales and staffing off last years numbers only gets you so far. Some weeks you overstaff and overorder, other weeks you get slammed and run short. Im trying to figure out if restaurant forecasting tools genuinely help with this or if most operators still lean on spreadsheets and manager gut feel. Bonus points if the system factors in weather and local events. What are you using to forecast sales and staffing more accurately.

r/linuxupskillchallenge is cool and now Im looking to try another course. Leaning toward Boot.dev since its RPG based but also noticed Linux Journey and the Linux Foundation courses. Anyone tried both of these here that can weigh in?

Which alternative assets are worth it for passive income?

I keep seeing people mention private credit, real estate, art funds, and other alternative investments, but it’s hard to tell what’s useful versus just trendy. For people who’ve researched a few of these, which options seem worth the extra fees, lockups, and due diligence?

Are clean base, minimal and hardened images the same thing?

I've been reading more about container security lately, and one thing that's confusing me is the terminology around base images. People often talk about clean images, minimal images, hardened images, and more recently near-zero CVE images, but they don't seem to mean exactly the same thing. My understanding is that minimal images reduce size by including fewer packages. Also, hardened images use security best practices and remove unnecessary risk. And clean or near-zero CVE images aim to eliminate known vulnerabilities before they reach production.

Am I thinking about this correctly, or is there a lot more overlap than I'm giving credit for? I'm interested in how people choose between these approaches in real-world Docker environments.

Where should I get injection molding parts made for a low volume first run?

Currently searching for a company that cn help me with injection molding parts for a first run of roughly 500 abs control box covers that have screw posts, snap tabs and one face that needs to look nice. Checked in with local mold shops but most of them are booked out and havent been very communicative. Im also new to this so I need guidance on what to fix before tooling. GPT listed Fathom, Uptive, Xometry and Quickparts. Hoping to get some details from people who have gone from prototype to production before I rely too heavily on AI for this decision. Also wouldnt mind keeping the mfg in the USA. IF you were me what would you do?
