Housing

I’m coming to Western for Fall 2027!

I have a disability and I need a single room on campus but as I’ve researched I’m noticing that’s pretty rare so I’m curious if anyone knows of cheap studio or 1 bedroom apartments that are nearby?

I have a car so I can drive if it’s a little far but would prefer to bike, walk, or bus to campus.

Any and all suggestions/advice is helpful!

I bought a used car, and it’s been an awfully stressful 6 months.

This is gonna be long sorry in advance.

**Disclaimers: I did not buy the car as is, yes I have a loan on it, I already called about unwinding the loan and getting my old car back and they apparently already sold my Nissan.**

So in December of 2025 I got a used car through a dealership in my city. It is a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. I traded my 2013 Nissan Rogue for it. The car was $19k and came out to $23k after taxes fees warranty etc.

2 weeks into having the car, the battery died. I took it to the dealership and they replaced it for free. But they said if there were any further issues I’d have to pay for them to fix it.

Another month or so goes by (I live in WA if rains constantly) my rear windshield wiper falls off. I replaced it myself.

Another month or so goes by again. I start my car and 2 warning lights come on: Front collision assist is out, as well as lane keep assist. I called the dealership and they said they can’t fix it, it needs to go to a designated Hyundai dealership.

I’ve had the car for 6 months now and the warning lights are still on, my car struggles to start up sometimes (like sputters then grumbles then I have to turn it off and start it again), my rear windshield wiper is loose and keeps falling down (not fully off thank god), and my screen inside occasionally doesn’t turn on. Literally black not even the Hyundai logo shows.

I called the dealership and they said they could get me a different car and basically take my Hyundai as a down payment for the new car. Whatever it’s valued at they will apply it to the new loan and what’s left will be added to the back end.

I’m currently paying $350 a month for the Hyundai which is a little out of budget for my but I’m making it work. I really like the car but so many minor issues in such a short time is concerning me…

What do I do? If I go through the process and get a different car how fucked will I be financially? Is there a way to just make them fix the issues? Can I simply sell them the car back and figure something else out transportation wise?
