Loved cork except the douchebags

I was in cork for over 10 days. Loved loved loved the city, weather, people, food. Realized early into the trip that something is always going down in the city - mostly the oliver plunkett street - man that street is entertaining. But ‘twas not all jolly. Twice, on two different occasions, some random dudes (in a car) screamed, like they were trying to scare/harass us (all women) when we were heading down to our hotel after dinner. Later over the weekend we headed to the fitzgerald park for breakfast at the tria cafe, we took a walk in the park later and towards one of the exits, a grown ass man was climbing a tree like a fucking chimpanzee and when we got closer to the damn tree he hopped down and started saying I love you, we all got so scared because he kept following us. Thankfully we found a security guard at the exit and told him about the crazy fucker. Other than that it was a pretty amazing trip - def love cork more than dublin. Had the bestest meals at Hayfield manor, spitjack, cornstore and the yummiest cocktails at the rearden.

Travelling to Ireland - Customs query for bringing things back home.

Helloo all! As the title suggests, I’ll be traveling next month and plan to shop quite a bit. I’m a baker, not professional, so I wanted to bring home a few blocks of irish butter. Vacuum packed and all. But I wanted to confirm if anyone has successfully brought in butter to india before. I know there are some restrictions on bringing dairy products home but I’ll be getting 1-2 blocks for personal consumption, well packaged with receipts, so I wanted to understand if there are any chances of customs seizing it. Ant and all help/recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

Cash v. Cashless

Hi cork locals, I am going to visit Ireland next month for 10 days, my base will be cork because it’s primarily a work trip, with about 4 leisure days. My hotel and work days are covered, so I only need to pay for lunches, dinners, drinks, and souvenir shopping on my 4 leisure days.
I am planning to use mostly physical cash for my daily expenses rather than relying heavily on cards or phone taps. A few questions for the locals:

a) Are there any major roadblocks I will face using cash for sit-down dinners, pub rounds, or transport on my route? Are card-only venues very common in Cork, Dublin, or Galway right now?
b) I want to buy local treats to bring home (Irish sea salt, Cadbury/local chocolates, Tayto/Keogh's crisps, and some budget shopping at Penneys/Boots). Do standard supermarket checkouts still easily handle cash?
c) I've heard Murphy's ice cream in cork is excellent. Do artisan scoop shops like Murphy's or local spots in Kinsale/Doolin accept physical cash? I plan to eat a lot of ice cream ;)))

Appreciate any real-time feedback on how cash-friendly these specific areas are. Thanks!

London Heathrow Terminal Change

Hi All! I’ll be traveling to ireland via london in the next couple of months. Flight one lands at t5 and my connecting flight is from t2. I’ll be really grateful if this sub could help me figure out how to go about the terminal change and the average time it takes! TIA.

Irish Visa

Hi folks! I have an upcoming work related travel to Ireland in august. My company will sponsor the whole trip, the only concern I have is regarding a transaction from february this year. It’s a sizable transaction from my dad’s business engagement. He got the funds in my account as a gift/spending money since I only started working 7 months ago. That deposit has now been converted into a fixed one. I’m wondering if I should get an affidavit from my dad stating the same along with a pay slip/proof to establish the depositing entity’s relationship with my dad. Will this affect my chances of approval? I have the full paper trail to prove it’s not shady money.
