Finally now we will import Sugar

Read the news that now government is planning to import 1 million metric tons of sugar duty free this festive season to curb the rising price.

The government have made biggest mistake by blending higher ethanol when India was a sugar exporter and used to earn Dollars . Now we will be importing sugar and spending dollars.

Foolish decision giving a reality check. The cost of import is approx ₹5000 crores considering ₹50/kg.

India weighs limited duty-free sugar imports to rein in record prices, sources say - https://www.reuters.com/world/india/india-considers-limited-duty-free-sugar-imports-ease-record-prices-sources-say-2026-08-18/

Zepto IPO: The Growth Story Is Strong — But Is the Valuation Too Aggressive? (My Expected Price Band in the Analysis Below)

Zepto’s IPO is coming, and honestly, this one could be either a really interesting long-term story… or a “wait, is this overpriced?” moment.

I dug into Zepto’s numbers and the quick-commerce landscape:

•Zepto is growing aggressively and chasing Blinkit hard.
•But it’s still losing money to win market share — classic scale-first, profits-later play.
•Blinkit looks more mature; Zepto feels like the aggressive challenger.

My expected IPO price band: ₹140–175/share.
•Below that: might look like a better entry for retail.
•Above that: market will probably get cautious and question the losses.

My take: Zepto has strong growth, but it’s not a “safe” bet yet. The price band is the key “reasonable pricing could make this compelling; too high, and the ceiling looks lower”.

Spotted US Force One

While landing in Delhi on 23rd May, I spotted a US Air Force aircraft parked on the tarmac. At the time, I just thought it was a cool sight from the window seat.

Later realized it was likely connected to Marco Rubio’s visit to New Delhi around the same dates.

Opened Axis Burgundy Account

Started with the ₹5 lakh initial funding requirement for Axis Burgundy and now maintain around ₹10 lakh with the bank.

Didn’t get Burgundy through the salary eligibility route, but shifted my salary account to Axis. Recently used the Burgundy Debit Card for airport lounge access where only premium cards were being accepted.

Earlier, my go-to card was the HDFC Diners Privilege, but the Burgundy card has now become my preferred choice for lounge access and movie offers.

Flew on Air India Express VT-BXA — turns out this aircraft has quite a story

Recently flew on VT-BXA and ended up reading way more about the aircraft than I expected.

This isn’t just another Air India Express 737 MAX 8.

VT-BXA was the first Boeing 737 MAX 8 unveiled in the new Air India Express branding after the Tata takeover and transformation of the Air India Group. It was also the aircraft used to showcase the airline’s completely new livery and identity. Also happens to be first aircraft showcased in the airline’s new branding and the first to wear the Bandhani tail design.

What caught my attention during the flight was that several cabin instructions were still printed in both English and Chinese. The cabin itself was unusual too it had 8 business class seats and a lower overall seat count compared to the typical 189 seat layouts seen on aircraft ordered by AIX.

That sent me down a rabbit hole.

I discovered that VT-BXA was originally built for Shanghai Airlines as B-20AK before delivery plans changed. Air India Express later acquired it from the batch of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft that had been built for Chinese carriers but never delivered.

What’s even more interesting is that Air India Express now operates several of these ex-China aircraft, originally destined for different Chinese airlines, which explains why some aircraft in the fleet have different cabin layouts, premium cabin configurations, galley arrangements, seat counts, and even Chinese-language markings.

It’s fascinating how what seemed like an ordinary flight turned out to be on an aircraft with a unique backstory that spans Boeing, Chinese airlines, and the Air India transformation.

Has anyone else flown on one of these ex-China Air India Express MAX aircraft and noticed the differences?
