Trying to complete all the challenges

Trying to complete all the challenges

So, I have all of the challenges complete except two: win in all of the battles (in adventure mode), and awaken all fighters (in adventure mode). Now, unless I've counted terribly, I have all 74 fighters from the base game, but I cannot for the life of me find the extra battles I have to win. I presume that I'd need to get the DLC to "awaken all fighters", but do I seriously need to get the DLC to "win in all of the battles"? I only have one hammer left to skip a tile, so it'd really suck if I had to get the DLC to get both of the remaining tiles

I hate Gorgo with a burning passion

I have been fighting this woman for OVER eighty turns at this point. I took ONE of her cities before being stopped at Athens for the past sixty turns. Every time I get close to taking Athens (at one point I had destroyed its walls), she mass produces siege units for some reason and shuffles them around for a few turns like an idiot before somehow still demolishing my entire army. I'm not even sure wtf I can do. My only plan is to invade Eretria, but idk what to do after that because Sweden is right above it and I'll probably just lose it to loyalty issues. I might just raze her entire civ tbh if I can even successfully invade it. I just wanted to have a chill game, get the Wat is Love achievement, and have an extremely populous city, but even if I were to offer her literally everything I own, she will not make peace. She is literally the WORST!

I had a WONDERful game

I've played thousands of hours of this game, but this time I decided to mess around with just how many wonders I could get (without just conquering everyone who had one). I had 38 wonders at the end, with around 4 of those being from cities that genuinely just voluntarily flipped to me. I didn't get a single dark or normal age, and ended the game with, unfortunately, a diplomatic victory since I had +7 victory points from getting all of those wonders. I still only ended with 2,100 score, so I still have never gotten Augustus Caesar. How tf are you supposed to get MORE score without just intentionally sandbagging in all of the victory types?

This is one of my first games where I didn't go for any achievements, and it was surprisingly very chill. For a while I even turned yields off and just enjoyed the graphics of the game (which lead me to be surprised by these yields that are pretty insane for being entirely unplanned)

The only wonder unbuilt at the end was the Amundsen-Scott Research Station because there were only 8 snow tiles on the entire map and all of them would've required me to settle a -20 loyalty city, which I wasn't keen on!

Green means I agree, black means I am conflicted/neutral and here is why for each of them:

  1. "The Roman Empire was based": I mean, it was kinda cool, but unfortunately authoritarian. I love their culture and innovations, but I prefer the Roman Republic.
  2. "Pornography is evil and should be banned": it is evil, but banning it is not gonna help
  3. "I would die for my country whether it's right or wrong": idk if I would. I think I would
  4. "US policing the world is a good thing": it SHOULD be a good thing but is quickly devolving imo
  5. "Poor people are poor because they're lazy": a lot of them are, but not all of them. I think we should give them all a chance, but, like, if they just spend it all on drugs then what are we supposed to do? Lol
  6. "The French Revolution was based": it was pretty awesome until the Grand Insurrection
  7. "Reagan was based": great at international policy, but not so much economically
  8. "China is a Fascist state": it kinda is atp. It's dictatorial, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it fascist.
  9. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need": IS a good philosophy, but it doesn't work
  10. "Supports labor unions": yeah I probably should've just made this green tbh
  11. "Seeking your own profit is a good thing": it's not always a good thing, but it isn't inherently bad.
  12. "Government intervention in the economy is communist": I mean, usually it is. That's not the default by any means, but it usually is at least socialist
  13. "Supports BLM": I support black lives mattering, but I'm not sure I support the movement itself

Further notes: this confirms my notion that I am very much a centrist, but I'm much less authoritarian than I initially would've guessed; I expected to be more equal between the two. Also, I want to note, Capitalism is deeply flawed, but I am still a capitalist because I think it's the best system we have currently (or at least second best... I prefer something in the, er, *center of* capitalism and socialism, lol)

If you people do end up debating, keep it civil! Can't we all just get along?

So I started this new religion as the Eastern Roman Emperor, and immediately I was able to mend the Great Schism since I had all of the land. However, the Pope, understandably, didn't like this, so he started a crusade on the Kingdom of France.

There were around 80k crusaders when it started, and about 20k died somehow before I got there. I disembarked, waited 30 days, then marched my armies (which had about 3 heavy cavalry regiments all level 11) to attack a group about 3k strong that was besieging Montpellier. As with all crusades, everyone immediately began flocking towards the battle, but my ally crusaders were only a few counties away, so I assumed they'd help me. I was wrong. I got swarmed by 39k crusaders and somehow, by some miracle, I won the battle. Now, I won long after the first section of combat, so I figured I wouldn't wipe literally all of them out. I was wrong. I don't know how, but legitimately the entire army just vanished. I got more piety and prestige out of this than the warchest for the crusade, and I singlehandedly killed half of the crusading army.

So anyways, then my game crashed. I'm checking now to see the damage done, but I doubt I'll win this battle this decisively again.
