When I arrived in Mexico, I had two horrible experiences. First, I was harassed by a guy in the airport bathroom, and then I was kicked out of the place I was renting for being trans. This happened one week before classes started. The reason I’m in Mexico is to study for my master’s degree, so my conclusion at the time was that being trans might not be very safe here.

When class begun I boymode, but there was this girl in my program who, from day one, used female pronouns for me. I was actually kind of scared, so I “corrected” her.

As time went on, I became more confident here and be myself. The girl and I eventually became friends. I learned that she is an active Mormon, which confused me a little because of how accepting she is of me. She has gifted me some of her skirts and clothes, supported me during my dysphoric crises, and overall we’ve had a great time together.

Yesterday, I asked her, “How did you know that I was, well… me? A tranny?” She just said, “I had the feeling you were a girl. I don’t know why.”

I don’t know what to think, but anyway, I’m really happy.

Hola soy extranjera y vivo actualmente he estado viviendo en otro estado de México, el próximo mes voy a asistir como ponente a un congreso en Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán en Oaxaca, entiendo queda muy cerca a la ciudad capital y quisiera conocer un poco de estos sitios antes que comience congreso por lo que agradecería recomendaciones, además quisiera saber que tan seguro es en general, finalmente creo que es importante mencionar que soy trans realmente no sé que tan seguro puede ser para mí, ya que veo muchas noticas que realmente me preocupan al rededor del país.
