Argumement over a pantypad strip in a bin? AIO

I (F39) had an argument with my partner (M49) this morning. He was upset with me because I had put strips of pantypads in the bathroom (lidless) bin. Not dirty pads, or wrappers, the strip from the back. I live with my 3 young sons, my partner and additionally my partner is housing his male friend in the guest room.

He says I am not respecting myself and no one in the household should know when I am on my period. He has never before given me indications that my period should be hidden in any way.

I grew up and was taught a period is a normal bodily function and have never had to hide feminine products. I was taught an unused pantypad is no different from unused toilet paper, or a plaster etc. Just something used for a dpecific purpose of a normal function of my body. Used pads obviously go to a closed bin wrapped and I would not have put that in this open bin. Am I wrong? I am so happy to change my mind and take another approach. Does the fact that this "outsider" person is in the house make it a different scenario?

How do you feel about period products out in the open? Should they be hidden or do you mind?

Please advise me men!
