4,000 SEIU registered for the rally today!
If you registered, show up! Anyone can come. Even if you don’t have time off, come on down during your lunch break! This is not limited to union members. All are welcome!
What causes one server to have lag when others don’t?
Forgive me as I am not tech savvy or a gamer. I’ve had very little lag on other servers but I’ve been playing a different official server the last couple of weeks and this server has soooo much lag and bugs.
It’s not my PC because I’ve logged into other servers and they are fine. Should I send a ticket about this server? Will they even respond?
Why are people so sure we won’t meet an impasse?
I keep seeing people say we will never strike. I’m looking for informed answers as to why not (not remarks like because the union sucks).
Do you think we won’t reach impasse? Why?
If we meet an impasse, do you think members will vote no on a strike?
Do you think enough members will vote to ratify low raises and no telework?
The union does what we vote them to do. Is it just that you don’t think we will meet impasse criteria?
Tek Free Servers (not an ad)
I wish Ark had tek free PVP servers and building limits for both PVP and PVE. Tek has created a playing field that is so impossible for solo players like me to enjoy because two or three behemoth Tek bases run the server.
Also people shouldn’t be able to spam the map with 100’s of cliff platforms, foundations and 100’s of gates.
I really miss the days of beta when everyone really had a more level playing field. It was more interesting and creative.
Contracts and Strikes must be member approved. Looking at you.
Hey all, it’s important to note that the union does not decide for you if we will or won’t strike at an impasse, nor do they ratify a contract without your approval. Things to note:
- Member voter turnout is abysmal every contract round.
- If you don’t pay dues, you don’t vote.
- You can’t keep saying the union does nothing when you can’t even be bothered to vote to approve or deny your contract.
- If you don’t want to approve a contract without telework or adequate raises, VOTE NO. If a minority of conservative members vote to approve a contract without telework or proper raises, that’s on the apathetic majority who doesn’t vote.
- If we reach an impasse and the union holds a strike vote, VOTE YES.
This is the most fundamental example of you having to be an active member to affect change. You have to VOTE. You have to pay dues to vote. If nothing else, sign up today so you can vote and reassess after contract vote. I have seen SO many lackluster contracts voted in by like 15% of membership. If the majority disapproves but none of y’all vote then what do you expect???
EDIT: Adding that there is some controversy about some of our union leadership right now and guess what, they were elected! Vote, Vote, Vote people.
Helen’s Wedding Fits
I normally love the styling in this show, especially Helen and Maddie’s clothes but omg the wedding and reception dresses were hideous!
Holy Discrimination Kaiser
Went to Kaiser for ultrasound. Told the doctor I will like discuss accommodations and they said “All the state workers are asking for telework”. I replied that I am not requesting telework but here are the things I’m struggling with.
Dr. said they will not document any limitations and can only certify that I have a condition. This is in fact a violation of my rights but their statement about State Workers really makes me think there is collusion going on.
I’ve filed a complaint with Kaiser asserting my rights but I’m considering going to EEOC (who has sued Kaiser for this exact scenario) and federal HHS Office of Civil Rights.
I don’t want to get ahead of myself but I actually suspect there’s a class action case here. I know I’m not the only disabled/pregnant state worker who has faced this issue at Kaiser. Loser behavior on the part of Kaiser and the State. I’m tired and I’ve cried a lot today.
NPR: Federal worker unions ask for telework in light of rising costs and minimal raises.
Federal worker unions ask for telework in light of rising costs and minimal raises.
Accommodations Question
Im filling out a reasonable accommodation form (not for telework) and there is a section for Authorization for Release of Medical Information.
Do I have to authorize that? My doctors verification and letter should be enough, no? I am not comfortable with them asking for my medical records.
I feel like if I sign this they are free to ask about my diagnosis’.
Whistleblower line for Space Needs?
Ok I jokingly mentioned this the other day but the more I think about it…
If you have evidence that your department needs more space or has plans for future budget proposals for space, could we present this to the whistle blower line?
My director said in our last town hall that we aren’t submitting a budget change proposal now, but we will in the next fiscal year or so. I thought I downloaded the video or a transcript but I’m struggling to find it. Wouldn’t this be evidence that DGS and CalHR is lying about projected cost?
Do you have more detailed evidence regarding space needs at your department?
I’m not saying I’m right on this one, I don’t know for sure, but I think if you have any communications or evidence of space needs you may be able to report it to the whistleblower line because this will cost millions. It’s a direct abuse of public trust by saying it won’t cost anything.
Feel free to educate me if I’m wrong and I’ll remove the post.
May revise
This fool really just said as we focus on getting “back to work” as if he haven’t been working and exceeding performance metrics. Further he said he is focused on reducing space needs??? Be so fucking for real.
Space Allocation
Is it not a betrayal of the public trust for DGS and CalHR to pretend there won’t be budget change proposals for space allocation?
We offset like 24 million in leases during the pandemic. How can they say we have enough space across departments???? Where are all the employees who occupied those spaces?? There is no way 98% of are space needs are met.
I know my department director said we won’t submit the budget change proposal this year but will have to in the next fiscal year to accommodate people. So it appears like we need no money now because we are delaying or BCP but we are hoteling, rotating on different days than our colleagues and don’t have enough equipment. (I specifically mentioned this in my email to the appropriations committee)
I think DGS is fully aware of this.
I just feel like they are straight up lying and it should be obvious to the assembly. It feels nightmarish. Like reality is right there and the powers that be are ignoring it but what’s worse is that this is public funds we are talking about. DGS and CalHR are saying they don’t have projected costs for RTO but will have huge budget change proposals next fiscal year or so citing space needs. How is this not a direct abuse of the public trust? Is there nothing to be done for this deliberate lie by omission?
I mean, can we call the whistleblower line? I’m half joking but like, my director said there will be a future budget change proposal and DGS is saying there won’t. The math isn’t mathing
Dogs in a hot ass cage are not your security system.
So I don’t think this is a resident. It’s someone doing landscaping. I don’t have an address to report to 311 but this seems like animal cruelty.
If you’re struggling to pick a candidate, this is a great starting point.
I’ve been a dues paying member of SEIU since day 1 with the state. I have always been supportive even when I disagreed with something. I’m staunchly pro-union, boycott union busting businesses, encourage people to unionize but I’m extremely upset that SEIU would endorse a billionaire.
You cannot be a billionaire and practice fair labor. Someone is being exploited under your leadership and to your benefit. You cannot spend a billion dollars in your life time so you are literally just hoarding wealth and no, you can’t be a wealth hoarder and an environmentalist because you profit billions off of industry that hurts the environment.
I can understand why they would endorse a centrist like Bacerra who has a chance but why the F*** would a labor union endorse a billionaire???!
BTW, Katie Porter wants to eliminate income tax for anyone making less than 100k. Pretty sure most of BU1 makes less than 100k and would benefit vastly.
So I’m just f**king pissed. I called the union to tell them as much because I try to be an active participant.
No that’s great, I love having to deep clean a desk every week. I love working opposite days from my manager and teammates and sitting in a dirty dead cubicle all day.
