Should i remove my mechanical fan?
My car has 2 electric fans (40cm diameter and 265-350 watts power depending on the model) and a mechanical fan as shown. (Pictures are not from my own car but parts are identical) electric fans are placed in front of the radiator. mechanical fan is bolted to the water pump and it's placed behind the radiatior, between the electric fans.
Many people say i should remove it. Because in most cases, it makes the cooling harder because of the noticable power it takes from engine. Plus it offers no cooling in traffics(low rpms). They also say the power draw keeps escalating as you rev, becoming a lot in high rpms.
Weather gets rather hot around here. Even over 40 degrees Celsius isn't abnormal in summer. The car won't overheat without the mechanical fan. At least without AC.
The thing is, I can't trust the people, nor i can trust the manufacturer. People have no official proof for what they claim. and manufacturer also made the entire car with zero calculations and engineering.
My engine is working fine, but it's not in the prime condition either.
