The Twins seem to be admitting they made a mistake by cutting payroll so much and are trying to improve the product on the field.

Zoll and Pohlad both realize that winning is the key.

They were in on Zack Neito at the deadline but the Angels wanted more than they were willing to part with (Neito ended up NOT moving). And with Culpepper getting the call up it seems like the right "non move"

Actions speak louder than words - let's see what they do assuming there is a season in 2027.

Tigers GM Spoke last night -

Multiple teams were in on Skubal. Each team made their last, best offer and at the end the Dodgers had the best offer / package. "You could feel the pain in their voices as they made their offers"

Questions:

  1. Do we think Zoll made an offer?

  2. If he did - what would it have been to make him have "pain" in his voice?

Look I get it - the Dodger's have a far better farm system than the Twins for a lot of reasons. Dodgers gave up their #5. 7 and 17 prospects - which are > then probably anything the Twins could have offered short of our top 3 and maybe 1 - 2 everyday players. But realistically what would have the Twins offered?

Is it "Normal" for a Franchise Company like Bricks and Minifigs to "keep the bank accounts" for a Franchisee?

I saw this question in another thread and thought it deserved a post of it's own:

Chrystal said repeatedly that she did not get the bank accounts turned over from BaM when she bought the franchise.

To me that is a BIG ASSED RED FLAG.

If she didn't have the accounts - how was she paying anything?

And if BaM had the accounts - how can they claim she wasn't paying?

Is it possible that yes, they never turned over the "old" accounts and that she then created new ones that she used to pay the store expenses and credit card?

And then BaM comes along and says that she was behind on payments and rent - thus the takeover.

What I think happened:

  1. BaM took the store back from the "pre-Chrystal owner" and also took over the lease and the bank account(s).

  2. BaM sold the franchise to Chrystal - she asked for the bank account(s) and lease to be transfered. They never transferred either.

  3. Chrystal created a new back account and used it for the store. BaM still had the old account(s) but nothing was going into or coming out of them.

  4. Since Chrystal did not have the lease, she probably (wrongly) assumed that it was being covered by BaM.

Thoughts?

Was 1979 - 80 the greatest 2 year run in Classic Rock history?

Maybe it's because it was my senior year in HS / First year in college, but it seems like 79-80 was maybe one of the best 2 year runs

Disco was dying.

The releases: Bob Seger - Against the Wind, Jackson Browne - Hold Out, Eagles - The Long Run, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Damn The Torpedoes, AC/DC - Highway to Hell and Back in Black, The Cars - Candy O, John Lennon - Double Fantasy, SuperTramp - Breakfast in America and the list goes on...

New Wave was being - Elvis Costello, The Cars, The Clash were all on the charts.

Stadium Rock - Van Halen had followed up their debut with VH II

AC/DC had regrouped following the death of Bon Scott with Brian Johnson.

Record Stores and Stereo dealers were actually trying to sell product!

Definitely one of the best 2 year runs - for any generation.

Someone cut our boulevard shrub off...

We are in a newer development in Kent County - when the home was built the developer had a landscape company come in and plant some roses / etc... around the front of the house and a shrub / tree in the front yard.

I think I know the answer but just want to know if this is "normal" for the area -

The tree / shrub had been there for 2 years now - it wasn't the best one on the block but wasn't the worst either. It was however, in the utility easement area and was between the sidewalk and the power (electric) box and the Xfinity internet box. So CLEARLY in the utility easement. In fact I had asked the site manager about that during the final walkthrough and he said not to worry they did that all the time without issues.

Well, today, at some point, the shrub was cut off at the base. Not dug out, just cut clean through and all of it removed. No knock on the door, no ringing doorbell to say - hey move this, no letter or notice or tag posted saying it will be removed if we don't move it. Just gone.

As I said - pretty sure it got whacked by one of the utility companies for some reason - but is this the norm? In every other house we've lived in - the utility company would talk to us before they did anything on our property - even on the easements.

Do they just periodically drive around looking for violations / etc and whack them?

Again - I get it - they need access - but at least come to the door and say something. And the neighbor's tree which was next to ours (about 5 feet away - same distance from sidewalk - is still there.

Ben on the Iced Coffee Youtube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRZ7J6SIVZs&t=1305s

Some thoughts / new information:

  1. Ben states that Bryan's wife is actually a lawyer and that they ran things by her and if she cringed they knew they were onto something.

  2. He admits that he could have done this the right way from the beginning. But that would not have made good video content.

  3. Salem/Kinser Police apologized and admitted they should have acted differently.

  4. A lot was cut out of the videos that Ben felt was "boring"

  5. Equal chance that previous owner stole some or that the accounting records were not complete.

  6. Ben pushes the limit - shocking. He does everything to the extreme.

I don't think any of this changes the fact that BaM acted badly and should have just paid off Bryan to end things.

Another Amagansett Fail....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wClXenvBBOg&lc=UgzAyY3tk01kvgp0dR14AaABAg.AYJktE78aAXAYJnJwA5r5T

The shops he and his "son" are visiting are in fact private property. It's basically an open air mall and the mall owns the sidewalks and the streets. The sargent was correct. The Lt. was wrong. Funny how we can't see the video of that conversation....

Just because it has streets with traffic and sidewalks - that doesn't make it "public"

Eagles - Youtube Channel - Debate - Autotune or just remastered?

There seems to be quite a debate / back and forth going on over on YouTube - over the posting of a "live" track from the Eagles - Lying Eyes - posted on their Official Eagles channel just over a month ago.

Lying Eyes - Live - 1975 Anaheim CA

A youtuber by the name of "Fil" did an analysis of Glen's vocals and basically came to the conclusion that whoever remastered the recording used Autotune to "fix" the vocals. Claiming among other things there is no way that Glenn could have changed pitches in between or in a single word as fast and as much as he did without help from autotune.

Last night there were a ton of negative comments on the video from people who had watched Fil's breakdown and were upset - but now it appears that the channel owner (Eagles) has cleaned them.

Fil's take was that they had the masters and where holding them because they knew the vocals were not "up to snuff" or their standards, but now they have applied AI / Autotune / Pitch Correction software to clean them up or enhance them.

Personally - I know Don and Glenn were perfectionists and would employ (along with their producer at the time Bill S) any trick they could to get the sound just the way they wanted it - including using different takes of each and very word in a verse to get it perfect. So, would I put it past Don or whoever is running the releases of the older live stuff, to use software / tools to enhance the recordings.

But is it really a bad thing? It is their music - they can do what they want with it. And this is the first official releases from the 75 tour - The Live album - released in 1980 - Featured shows from both 76 (5 songs with Randy on Bass) and 80 (10 songs with Timothy B. Schmidt) and we all know that there was likely significant "overdubbing" or "studio" redos in there with Henley in CA and Fry in Miami.

TL:DR - Gasp - Eagles release a "live" version of Lying Eyes from 75 with autotuned vocals. Do we even care at this point?
