Expectations on micro pistols

I've seen a lot of posts across the net about micros, ranging from the sig p365 to shield plus to bodyguard. I think a lot of people have an unrealistical expectation on these.

1.People often refer to these as snappy. And yeah, no shit. My shield plus has more muzzle rise and is harder to control than my small framed revolver in .357. I need you to just think about that for a second. The small size is a compromise. Everyone says 9mm is an easy to use caliber. And that might be true.....in a full size gun. A micro 9mm is going to kick like a mf. And you should just be ready for that.

2.hard to grip and hard to shoot. These guns are tiny. And it took a significant amount of practice for me to be able to shoot my shield plus accurately with the flush mag. These guns are not for you if youre not going to practice with them. They're not good first guns imo, unless youre really willing to grind up front and spend a lot on ammo. If youre used to shooting full size guns and pick up a micro and say " well I can't shoot it thus I don't like this gun." Youre fine to have a preference, but no shit you can't shoot it. Its different you have to learn the platform.

3.Short range. These guns are made for concealability and comfort first. Micro guns are not meant for 15+ yard shooting. The fact that some of them are accurate out that far is more of a cherry on top than the main event. I can shoot my bodyguard and shield plus out to 15 yards and get every shot center mass. I really just fail to see why I'd need to go any further with a purely defensive firearm. I think people get a bit too caught up in hitting bullseyes or having good guns for shooting competitions. These are not hunting weapons they're maximum concealability and comfort defensive weapons.

But these guns are still really good choices. I have a bodyguard 2.0, a ruger lcp max and a shield plus. My shield is so small it can throw a light and an optic on it and still conceal very easily with the flush fit mag and a holster that fits the light. And if I'm out on a trail or something I can throw the 15 rounder in it and I'm still not really printing. No need for a fancy belt or anything. Hell the shield could actually be pocket carried if youre desperate. And its not that much different in size than something like a jframe in terms of dimensions. My next gun is likely going to be a sig p365 in 380.

Does anybody have both of these guns? I currently have a bodyguard 2.0, but I prefer revolvers to autos. Comfort, concealment and reliability are king for me. And I find Revolvers print less and I prefer them for reliability. Only issue is comfort. I have two revolvers, but the issue is they're too large and heavy for pocket carry. Pocket carry has made me never want to carry IWB again lol. I'm mainly interested in another gun I can throw in a pocket holster like my bg 2.0 and toss in my front pocket under a wallet.

Is the 642/442 significantly worse in terms of weight/size than the bg 2.0? I've compared them via handguard hero and they don't SEEM that different in terms of dimensions. I would sometimes carry the 642 in IWB as well.

So my taurus executive grade 605 was very uncomfortable to shoot. It wasn't comfortable to shoot 357 or 38 special out of it. I got recommendations to change out the grips. I went and shot 100 rounds of it and then bought and had the grips changed there at the range. The gun feels awesome now! This was a gun that I would never concealed carry. It printed so ridiculously, and felt ridiculous. The grip was just so damn big. However it now feels very comfortable to carry in an IWB holster. It doesn't print anymore either. The grip is also GRABBABLE. I can actually get my hands around the thing.

Spending extra on a gun just to have to get rid of the Gucci wood grips feels pretty terrible. I like Taurus revolvers but I would not get their fancy executive line. For the price of this gun you can get one of the cheaper smiths. However the regular 605 seems like a good deal. This turned from a gun I didn't like to shoot AT ALL into part of my conceal carry rotation. 5 shots of 357 in this package is awesome. I'm still planning to get the trigger tuned. Its very smooth, but just a bit excessively heavy.

This is my Taurus executive grade 605. Its basically a suped up 605. The gun is real pretty and feels real fancy, but this gun is very uncomfortable to shoot. And all of my guns must be functional tools, no gucci guns allowed.

I have two main problems with this gun.

1.The grip is extremely uncomfortable in my hands after shooting at all. And not just .357. .38 special is also not comfortable to shoot. The grip feels massive, and I guess my hands are not actually that big.

2.the trigger on this thing feels kind of excessively heavy. Its almost like this gun isn't really made to be shot, like its made to be a looker. I have a taurus 856 which has a heavy trigger and it has nothing on this. This thing has got to be well over 12 pounds.

When I combine the extremely heavy trigger with the uncomfortable grip, this easily turns into my least favorite gun to shoot....and I have a ruger lcp max. I think I've fired like 100 rounds out of this gun total, just because of how unpleasant it feels....and I shoot a lot. I've fired like 1000 rounds through my 856, so its not an issue of getting used to a revolver. Any ideas here? I've got a good gunsmith i can go to and I'm definitely willing to pay to get service done to it. but instead of trading in or selling this gun, I'd rather try to make it better.
