Works Reimbursement program

So my work has a 100% reimbursement program for college. I currently work as maintenance for a Ritz-Carlton hotel. The rules with reimbursement state it has to be directly tied to hospitality and anything unrelated to wouldn’t be covered.

I think that getting a degree to boost my position in hospitality would be a good idea but mainly as a fall back option. My real aspirations are in engineering. I think pursuing electrical engineering would make me happier in life but I would have to go to a 4 year.

So is there a work around doing a 2 year for my current role and then in pursuing EE afterwards? Is this a good idea or should I focus on EE and not worry about the reimbursement program.

Is it worth taking in person classes?

Hello Reddit, I’ve been wanting to pursue my GED so I can later attend college. I’m 22 and dropped out during covid.

I took the math test just for fun and passed with 160. I feel like I could pass the other tests but looking into the ged classes it may offer some benefits going that route. I think going this route I could get onto a direct path into college plus some grants. I’ve only lightly done research on this and would like to know what you all think? Is it worth the classes and what benefits they may offer?

The school I have in mind for these classes is Portland Community College, which after I get my ged, I would like to do 2 years there then transfer to Oregon state University. OSU lists a minimum total score requirement of 680 on the GED which is ~170 per subject. My 160 on math is, well 10 below.

College’s Score Requirment

I’m looking into attending college after I get my GED. The college I want to go to has a minimum total score requirement of 680. That would roughly be 170 per subject. If I fall below this 170 mark on any of my tests should I retake them until I get a higher score or is there a work around? The school I’m looking into is Oregon state.

Im planning on attending school for engineering and I’m trying to figure how I should go about it.

Should I go straight into university and do it all there?

Should I do 2 years of community college then the rest in university.

What are the pros and cons for going in either direction?

Currently I’m 22 and I do maintenance for a Ritz-Carlton. I enjoy my job and there is a lot of potential to be promoted from within plus the money here is good. I’m just not sure I’m entirely satisfied. I love to tinker and help people and that’s what drew me here but, something is missing and I feel like I should do more with myself.

Ive spent sometime looking into different roles and relating my interests but ive become even more lost. I like everything to do with stem so I’ve gravitated towards related roles such as engineering. I think a role in engineering could be good for me since I enjoy math, challenging problems and I could get to create something that matters but I’m unsure which engineering roles would suite me best. I also like tech and the ideas of coding and solving complex problems but I don’t know anything about tech and I hear the job market is to saturated and finding a job is next to impossible. The last thing I think I’d enjoy is something to do with space exploration but how do you even start or find a way into that.

Finally college. Is it worth going to college anymore. It’s expensive, time consuming and mentally draining. I love to learn and I wish I could learn as a job but I don’t think that’s very realistic. So again lost. I’m young and I’ve got plenty of time to figure this out but I’m hoping to develop some ideas.

Ive been using khan academy to help study for my ged but I’m not sure exactly which courses I need to take. I would like to get college ready + credit and so far I’ve taken the math test and received a 160. I didn’t study prior to getting the score so I’ve been spending my time catching up on math going through all the courses in order on khan. Should I accept my score and move onto the rest of the tests and just get the ged out of the way? Can I even retake math?

Eventually I do want to go to college and pursue an engineering role so I feel like I need to master the required math before moving on.

With the rest of the tests how should I prepare for them?

I’ve been on the hunt for a nice day bag that has enough room for my 11” iPad but not overly big and clunky. I need a bag that looks professional or classy. I really like black leather and so far I’ve found 2 bags that are in the style I’m looking for. If you have any ideas of other bags that are in a similar style leave them below!

So this quince bag looks nice but I can’t find any info or videos on it.

Then there is this Grams28 bag which I’ve seen a lot about.
