It's PDI Time!

Hi everyone,

I’m expecting to take delivery of my Mahindra XEV 9S Pack Two Above (79 kWh) this weekend, and I want to make sure I do a thorough pre-delivery inspection (PDI) before driving it home.

For those who already own an XEV 9S, or anyone who has recently taken delivery of a Mahindra EV:

  • What are the most important things I should inspect before accepting delivery?
  • Are there any common issues or hidden areas I should specifically look out for?
  • Since it’s an EV, are there additional checks (battery health, software version, charging, ADAS calibration, etc.) that I shouldn’t miss?
  • What should I ask the dealer to demonstrate before I sign the delivery documents?

I’ve also noticed that many dealers (irrespective of the brand) in my area don’t seem very supportive of third-party PDI inspectors (although I haven’t confirmed this with my dealer yet).

Would you recommend:

  • Hiring a professional PDI service, or
  • Doing the inspection myself with a detailed checklist?

If you’ve taken delivery from a Mahindra showroom recently, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience—both good and bad. Any tips or lessons learned would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks in advance! ☺️

Booked Mahindra XEV9S!!

After extensive research, showroom visits and exploring various cars, I’ve finally booked a Mahindra XEV 9S - Pack 2 79 kWh in Desert Myst!

As a newbie to the EV world, I’d greatly appreciate any valuable tips, advice, suggestions and experiences from fellow EV enthusiasts regarding ownership services and driving experiences. My main questions are the following:

  1. What apps are essential for locating EV charging stations?
  2. How should I use and become comfortable with the range and battery percentage while driving?
  3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of owning an EV according to you? What are the challenges and benefits?

To the fellow XEV 9S owners, how has your experience been so far?

I truly value all users’ experiences and look forward to your replies.

Should I switch to EV?

I was all set to book the Kia Carens Clavis HTX + Petrol DCT variant, and here comes Ethanol blending and its ratio doubts and uncertainties. I don't have heavy usage and hence wanted a petrol car, but with all the doubts and misty clouds, I can't trust petrol/diesel reliability. right now I'm thinking about getting into EVs, and I really want some advice and clarifications to decide and proceed further.

Firstly, I don't have heavy usage and am primarily looking for a family-usage car, with average usage of 200 - 700 km a month and 7k - 10k a year. My first question is, is an EV really practical for my usage? Most of the week the car is going to be ideal, and will that affect it in any ways?

Everywhere I read the common phrase is "EV is best suited for daily commuters" and "saving fuel costs." " How much do EVs work beyond this? There are plenty of uncertainties with the fuel right now, and I know a lot of people are in the same state of mind and considering EVs.

I would really love to know from people who already own EVs to share their experience, usage and suggestions for the people who are trying to get into EVs like me.

Which brand is best right now and getting better? I think the obvious three choices would be MG Windsor, Tata and Mahindra. I'm thinking about the Mahindra XEV9s; which variant is the best value for money in that? I'm also open to any alternatives that I should look into.

Now in the past with most people switching to EVs to save on fuel in daily commuting and matching that equation for my usage, is it still worth it to spend on EV cars as i won't be making much use of the "fuel saving" term? What do I actually need to know and expect about the resale of EV cars? I can't think about any other practical options to avoid the uncertainties that are there right now.

I understand EV infrastructure in India is having plenty of gaps and requires refinement, but I still feel like it at least moves forward with improvements rather than backwards with uncertainties like ICE engines and fuel propositions.

My state offers no tax till Dec 2027 for EV rego's, and it is 20% (most in the country) for ICE engines, which is making so much difference.

Please share your valuable suggestions and experiences.
