Something Ive noticed buying Casios on Flipkart for the last 3 years

I’ve been buying Casios pretty regularly for about 3 years now, mostly from Flipkart because the prices can be crazy good. Most of the Casio listings I come across are sold by Wizrob Fashion.

Here’s a pattern I keep seeing. A watch sells at MRP or a normal discount and goes out of stock. Then that same night, or a day or two later, the exact same watch is back at a way lower price, and there’s only 1 or 2 units.

I started buying both kinds: the MRP ones and the suddenly cheap ones. And the difference was easy to spot. The cheap restocked ones had no plastic wrap, no screen protector film, sometimes no cushion in the box, and clear signs of wear. On the resin you can see it really well under good lighting. I’ve seen this side by side because I bought both versions of the same watch.

My guess is these are returned watches. You see it on this sub all the time during sales: people order a bunch of watches, post wrist shots asking which one to keep, then send the rest back. Those returns get put back in stock, sometimes at a lower price, sometimes not even discounted. Then the next person gets a “new” watch with scratches or visible wear, and that’s a ruined experience.

Not ranting, and I can’t say this is what every listing is. It’s just what I’ve noticed across my own orders.

I’m not saying don’t buy from Flipkart, there are genuinely good deals. Just check the condition as soon as it arrives, especially if a single unit randomly shows up at a very low price.

transferred 10L to wrong account via RTGS

Hello everyone, I'm looking for advice if anyone has faced the same below:

I was trying to make a transfer to my own postal bank account of rs10 Lakhs and made a mistake while writing account number on the slip in SBI branch.(RTGS)

I talked to branch and wrote a letter saying it was my mistake and also went to local post office.

Local post office said it went to a females account in the postal bank in Karnataka.

My SBI branch has written mail to the designated karnataka regional post office and my regional post office too.

Any idea what i can do from here?

Why cant Sonata bums make this atleast 30m Waterproof

Sonata bums are allergic to profits. Selling this at 800- why not just add waterproofing and sell it at 1k or a little more. The watch is gorgeous and the only sonata i own due to my love for field watches and large hour markers. Only if it had any waterproofing

I built a small Cinnamon-themed GUI for Microsoft's MarkItDown converter -MintDown

Been using Mint as my daily driver and wanted a simple way to convert files (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, images, etc.) to Markdown without touching the command line every time. Microsoft has an open-source library called MarkItDown that does the conversion, but it's CLI-only, so I built a small GUI on top of it, styled to match Cinnamon's look.

I actually made this purely for myself and never planned on sharing it. But figured since it turned out usable, might as well contribute it back to the community instead of just sitting on it.

What it does:

  • Pick a file (or a wide range of formats, PDF, Office docs, images, audio, HTML, CSV, EPUB, and more)
  • Convert it to Markdown with a progress bar
  • Save the output

Nothing fancy, just a simple retro style utility window. No fullscreen bloat, no accounts, no telemetry.

Download and run:

  1. Go to the Releases page
  2. Download mintdown (the plain binary, not the zip)
  3. Right-click it → Properties → Permissions tab → check "Allow executing file as program"
  4. Double-click to launch. Done.

That's the whole process, no terminal needed.

If you'd rather use the zip instead (mintdown-linux-x86_64.zip), extract it and do the same right-click permission step on run.sh, or from terminal:

chmod +x run.sh
./run.sh

(This permission step is standard Linux behavior for any downloaded executable, not specific to MintDown, files don't run automatically after download as a security measure.)

No Python setup needed, no dependencies to install manually, it's fully self-contained.

It's a fork of Microsoft's markitdown, full credit to them for the actual conversion engine, I just built the Linux GUI on top. MIT licensed, source is fully open: github.com/Ayush-Chaugule/mintdown

Not affiliated with Microsoft or the Linux Mint project, just a personal project styled after Cinnamon out of appreciation for the desktop environment. Feedback welcome, it's my first time actually shipping something like this.

Casio W738 on 18 to 22mm adapter and nylon strap

The out of the box strap is very uncomfortable at least for my wrist - so I swapped it with a 22mm nylon strap. Thoughts?

Thayyilsports Review.

I ordered a few jerseys from ThayyilSports, all from their Premium Embroidery collection.

For ₹300 to ₹360, I think they're excellent value. The club/country crest and brand logo are embroidered, while all the other details are good-quality prints. The fabric is decent and breathable. It is not premium, but it is comfortable enough for regular use.

These are great if you want jerseys for daily wear, sports, or casual use. If you're a collector or want highly detailed, near-authentic replicas, I'd recommend spending more elsewhere.

Shipping was through regular India Post (not Speed Post), so delivery may take a bit longer, but my order arrived without any issues.

Overall, if your budget is around ₹300 to ₹360 and you want good-looking jerseys for everyday use, I'd recommend them.

My New Casio W-738H Review

Arrived a few hours ago!

PROS:

  1. The case and button are really good quality

  2. The fit is really comfortable

  3. The vibration is 10/10, will definitely wake you up from sleep. Alarm vibrates for more than 3 seconds!

  4. Backlight is okay-okay. Good in complete darkness.

  5. 10yr battery, 100m WR and a pretty solid build makes it decent for the price.

CONS:

  1. The negative display is very bad. From visibility to viewing angle. One needs to sit in a pretty lit room to be able to check time. I need to put stress on my eyes to check every time.

  2. The strap is absolutely garbage, you can find better quality straps on cheaper casios than this.

  3. The watch has 2 modes. Either vibration or beep. You cannot use both at a time. If you turn on vibration then watch will vibrate for everything(alarm, hourly signal and timer).

A day at the potato farm.

Not a desk diver today.

Spent the morning in the potato fields at my grandparents farm. Came back with muddy shoes, dusty clothes, and a dirt-covered MRW-200H. Couldn't resist taking a photo before washing it off.

Casio AQ-230 turns 8 years old. One battery replacement and a loose button, but otherwise still going strong🥰
