Fuck you Hans, don't tell me what to do. But yeah Pierre you're right, you said the exact same thing as Hans but you're right nonetheless.

Those Danes, what cheeky little tricksters. Despite their funny way of talking, you've just got to love them.

I hate the "American's don't have any food and no culture" argument

Even Tom Holland has started saying this shit and it's genuinely kinda annoying. Yes American food takes foods and ideas from other countries but in doing so they diverged and became something new. Like are you seriously going to tell me that Tex-Mex is the same cuisine as Mexican just with more fat?

Not to mention that literally every culture takes foods from other cultures and make them their own. For example, the earliest predecessors to Croissants actually came from Vienna Austria, despite being primarily associated with France.

He gets very irritated when another French person starts speaking within his presence. Is my model defunct or working as intended?

Paddy, Barry, Pierre, Pedro and João tomorrow. (Sorry, nobody brought it up in the sub, so I thought why not.)

I also visit places as a tourist and get upset at the presence of other tourists. They're touristing the wrong way and I don't like it. Is this a common Western European experience?

I'm just after thinking about this and I think I should try and get on a radio show to talk about this to bring public attention to Chat Control.

Hear me out:

So the biggest problem with the debate around Chat Control is that there's very little press and so much pro surveillance propaganda surrounding it right?

In my country (Ireland) the majority of MEPs are in support and very few people know about Chat Control but in my country a handful of radio stations have a segment where you can email them about specific issues and if lucky you can get on the air and people can discuss the topic.

A lot of people here listen to the radio, whether its on their morning commute or in shops or in the background.

So I was thinking if I sent out emails to these radio stations to try and get on their phone in segments, I might have a chance to get on and bring attention to this.

What do you guys think? Too optimistic or go for it?

A piece of advice, let them know.

I've thought about this for a bit and I've replayed the idea in my mind but we have to let them know that we know what they're playing at.

When you're writing your emails or making your phone calls to the MEPs that voted yes for Chat Control 1.0 to be brought back, let them know that you know that they didn't actually consult with actual child protection groups. (There was a link for this shared in this sub a while ago, showing that most of those that voted for Chat Control 1.0's return didn't consult with child protection groups.)

And be assertive about it, not aggressive, don't curse them out or berate them but don't be afraid to vocalise the fact that you're disappointed about it.

Whether you voted for them or not (they won't know either way) also make sure to vocalise that it could cost them your support.

Bring it all up and put them under pressure.

Don't be rude about it but don't be nice either.

Okay, time to try and calm everyone's nerves once again...

Right... Its time to help settle everyone's nerves and explain the situation about this more rationally...

  1. The situation is serious, but it's not quite as dramatic as some reports make it sound.
  2. Most of parliament is not already on summer holiday. It is holding its final plenary session from 6 to 9 July, and MEPs are expected to attend as normal because this is an official sitting week.
  3. The concern from campaigners is that supporters of reviving Chat Control 1.0 are trying to get a vote through before Parliament breaks for the summer, which would give opponents less time to organise.
  4. Some commentators also believe attendance could be lower towards the end of the session, but there is no official evidence that "most of the opposition will already be on holiday."
  5. Even if Chat Control 1.0 were revived, that would not automatically mean Chat Control 2.0 passes. It could change the political dynamics of the negotiations, but Parliament would still have to approve any final version of Chat Control 2.0 separately.
  6. Just in reference to the fightchatcontrol.eu website, they're kinda shite at updating their page. Like for example that MEP for/against thingy has been up since February.

So to calm everyone's nerves, get some rest. Keep mailing and ringing your MEPs and keep the pressure on. The end is not nigh and you still have the ability to keep pushing back.
