For Fans of Elder: REZN

Saw local lads REZN play with Elder a few years back in Chicago and have been a huge fan ever since. Anyone else here into them? They’re different from Elder, but scratch a similar itch for me.

Their new album, Cycles in the Infinite Dream, is fantastic and is a reflection of what I was hoping Elder’s new album was going to be: progression while maintaining the core sound and a slight heaviness.

Through Zero is admittedly growing on me, although I think it may be more of me coming to terms with with what was presented rather than what I hoped for, but I’m finding I often play it immediately after Cycles in the Infinite Dream.

I highly recommend seeing REZN live, they sound amazing live. 🤘

Inspection Taking Forever

Hi all, I have a car reserved that has been undergoing the inspection/reconditioning process for at least 3 weeks since I’ve have it reserved and I’m pretty sure it was listed for at least 1 week before that, but maybe more.

The car has a clean CARFAX, one owner, and only ~ 5,000 miles…so, I’m assuming there isn’t anything wrong with it, but I don’t understand what is taking so long? The car is at a reconditioning/inspection facility in IL, but that’s all the info I can get out of Carvana.

Has anyone else experienced long lead times like this? A similar car popped up locally and I slightly prefer the Carvana car, but I don’t want to wait forever and lose out on the local car if there’s an issue with the Carvana car.

Help me decide: BD vs BL

Hi all, I'm torn between two Broncos and wanted some input from the community. The images above are the same models/colors/trim/specs, but not the actual vehicles.

I will probably not do any off-roading and this would be a daily driver and a little fun on the weekend with the family. I like the vinyl seat option and wish the BL was fully vinyl. Also, for some reason they chose carpet flooring for the BL, but do have all-weather mats. I have a dog, kids, and live in the midwest where we get snow, so the vinyl seats and rubber floors sound nice.

The BL has many added bells and whistles (hopefully the equipment package reflects this) and the V6, but the BD has the 2.3 L, manual transmission in and non-SAS, so slightly better MPG I would imagine (even if the MT is supposedly slightly lower MPG than the AT).

I know a lot of folks love the V6 and a lot love the manual transmission, so maybe that's my biggest sticking point.

SAS package Non-SAS package

Anyone in the U.S. know of an Alfa forum for private sales?

As the title states, I’m considering selling my Giulia Ti and rather than going FB Marketplace or through other generic channels, I was curious if anyone knows of a place other than the GiuliaForums website as apparently I’d need to make 50 posts there before being able to list a classified ad?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Through Zero - first spin and a little disappointed

TL;DR: just had my first play-through the full album, good but not great. Sadly, a little disappointed.

Huge Elder fan since around 2018. I’ve seen them 4 times including taking a flight from Chicago to Portland just to see them. Not a huge fan of their self-titled album (though a recent replay is starting to click), I think from ‘Dead Roots Stirring’ straight through to the ‘Liminality/Dream State Return’ EP are all practically flawless, and I adore the progression in each album while always maintaining that base Elder sound. I constantly run through their full discography in chronological order. I’m also a big Delving fan.

In reading reviews here about how this new album integrates the newer prog/electronic elements while tying in heavy riffs that sometimes even reach back to the first half of their discography, I couldn’t have been more excited…as if I needed a reason to get excited for Elder.

…but damn, finished my first spin just now and it’s just not clicking. I kept waiting for the big riffs and the amazing three track sequence several folks have commented on and it just never showed up.

IMO, Track 1 from every Elder album is the strongest song on that album (‘Omens’ is the one record where I could have seen one other song open the album, but still would have gone with the title track) and really sets the stage for the rest, but this opening track just seemed anticlimactic or just not that memorable, idk. And I never listen to a single Elder song or mix around the records - I’m a full album guy when it comes to them, just can’t listen any other way. Their track sequencing is always top notch.

This sounds more like a Delving album to me than an Elder album, which was my first reaction after hearing the first two singles. They’re obviously similar bands guided by the same driving force (Nick), but it just seemed like the electronic elements took center stage and the guitar took a bit of a back seat. There are moments, of course, but they felt a bit sparse. Elder is so good at running for a while on a riff and then coming back to it later after going in different directions and just pulling you back in to really tie it all together. On this album, it seems like this aspect is mostly missing.

Anyway, even a slightly disappointing Elder album is better than what many bands could only hope to achieve. Again, just my first play-through and maybe it’ll grow on me and I’ll have a completely different opinion…the first single took a few listens to click, the second was an immediate hit…and I think Nick’s vocals here took a significant leap (I love his voice, flaws and all) and the bass rips as well. Fingers crossed. Can’t wait to see them in Chicago later this year! 🤘
