Hecate in the tarot

I didn’t realize it at the time but when I committed to a regular devotional practice, it was the new moon just after Nemoralia. So today marks just between 12 lunar months and one solar year for me. Tarot is a core part of my practice and to honor her today I put together a spread of cards from my decks that just scream her name to me every time they come up. On today I want to thank her in all the forms she reveals to me.

I’m a little surprised how wide the range is - all suits but coins, and while the Moon is of course common, there’s really a lot of range in the depictions.

My favorite is the Knight of Skins (Wands) from the Blood Moon deck; it’s my favorite deck and she always comes in blazing when I need her. The most surprising one to me is the Three of Swords from Crystal Keys; 3S is a card I’m always happy to draw (I know I’m a sicko) and my smoky obsidian travels regularly between my shrine to her and my normal altar; the overlap is auspicious.

No cards from my Bonestone or Shadowscapes decks are here. Those are both really generally beloved decks I struggle to work with; I don’t know if it’s because she’s absent or I don’t find her because of my trouble with them.

Does anyone else have a favorite Hecate card, or a different view on any of the cards here? Especially, any recommendations for one where she comes up as Coin/Pentacle/Earth?

(Top left to bottom right: RWS, Thoth; Transient Light; Star Spinner; Abyss; Crystal Keys; Blood Moon; Trinum; Lubanko; Solar Kingdom; Honey and Lavender.)

Found a definitely cis journal entry from 2008.

(I should have taken my advice and not waited 15 more years.)

Happy Deipnon! Hecate sent me a sigil at moonrise

I have been working with Hecate for a few years now, but this is the first Deipnon I’ve had a proper cauldron and been able to plan an extended ritual at home. I made my usual thanks and petition* and a thunderstorm suddenly broke, the wind blowing the embers into a shape I’m sure was a bee.

Besides the association with her, bees for me are a reminder to live doing what I need to do in a way that also helps other beings; and conversely in their problems as a displaced species how fragile that promise can be if I overestimate myself or make too many assumptions.

I hope she shares something wonderful with all of you as well today.

Untested Fan Deck - Nata de Cotton

I had a bizarrely detailed dream last night that there was an official shmup set released and I played Cotton vs. a friend playing (for some reason) Black Panther. Other than a couple standard cards I padded the deck out to 30 with I think this was it.

This is the first deck I ever "designed" and given its provenance I can't really recommend playing with it yet but I intend to playtest it in the next few weeks and if anyone more experienced has suggestions please lmk. (Also if anyone knows why the font gets messed up sometimes in Unmatched Cards, it would be cool if that didn't happen...)
