youtu.beHow Delta Air Lines Got A Second Chance In Texas (AUS)
>“The nice thing about Austin is that it puts Delta back in Texas,” (Delta’s chief commercial officer Joe) Esposito continued. Austin “is something that nobody’s claimed. And I think we’re the right carrier for Austin," he said.
>Will Austin become a Delta hub?
>“When we build a city like this we’re here for the local consumer,” Esposito said. “We follow the economic trends, and Austin is booming. Think about the companies here -- Tesla, Apple and we can go on. That’s where we want to serve. Our primary is not connecting; our primary is serving the Austin consumer.”
>However, “We wind up connecting people,” he said, noting that already 15% to 20% of Delta’s Austin passengers are connecting – largely between the West Coast and Florida. “We’re not technically calling it a hub,” he said. Yet, given the connections, “you can call it a hub already.”
Austin has really outgrown the airport
Counted 6 planes parked overnight on the apron near the terminal and 4 more on the far side at 6:15a this morning. Mix of AA, United, Delta and Alaska.
I love the Airbus A350-1000! This jet is so long and looks so good.
ABIA was in reverse ops today (take offs and landings were northbound, 36R & 36L respectively) instead of the typical southern flow. This gives us a good close up of departing aircraft. Last weekend my British Air posts were landing on 18L (same runway as this one) in the opposite direction. Here's the British Air A350-1000 departing this evening just after 6pm.

kxan.comRider beware, honeypot ABIA in Uber app
That is not the airport. Dropped me off in the middle of East Austin. I let Uber know so hopefully it’s fixed soon. Coordinating between Uber and Waymo was not fun, but I got where I was going.
AUS uber pickup: a case study in human suffering
Nothing rage baits me more than the Austin airport Uber pickup. Why do I need to complete a side quest, cross the Sahara, and lose all cell service just to get into a Camry?
How do people with actual mobility limitations survive this? Ive dropped to my knees and cried and my only disability is chronic overpacking.
When do we revolt? 😭
