Texans RB coach on Woody Marks

"I think the key for Woody is understanding his role, which he does," running backs coach and assistant head coach Danny Barrett told KPRC 2. "He’s going to get lots of opportunities. Last year we brought him along slower, which was good to help him kind of learn the game. And once he learned the game, he played a lot faster. And you can see him now playing even faster.

So, his role is going to pick up some third downs, special teams. He’s a kickoff return guy. But, more importantly, probably in the passing game as well. Just his level of confidence in the offense going into Year Two is at an all-time high right now. We’ve got to keep it there."

Marks is liking his projected role for his second NFL season in the Nick Caley system.

“Nick Caley is doing a great job right now,” Marks told KPRC 2. “Got me doing all types of routes, learning the route tree. Just get outside and just using me as he can so I can be productive.”

4th of July - Texans edition

Happy 250th birthday to our great nation!
Coincidentally, our Houston Texans employ the colors red, white, and 2 shades of blue. Which uniform from the team’s history has been your favorite?

nico collins renegotiation

I’m trying to understand the Texans’ approach with Nico Collins’ contract. Instead of extending him earlier, they basically paid him more on the remaining years of his deal. Nick Caserio has done a good job overall, but this kind of move feels like it’s more about cap management than locking guys up early.

Is this just a “wait-and-see” strategy, or does Caserio not like doing early extensions unless he absolutely has to?

Realistically, where would a non-injury riddled J.J. Watt rank all-time?

JJ suffered numerous injuries that both sped up his decline and shortened his career, but I've been wondering lately where he could rank if he didn't deal with so many injuries. Personally I believe he would have had another 20-sack season and DPOY, becoming a top 2 DE of all time. Am I under or overestimating the effect of injuries on his career?

Rivalry Uniform

I know we’re all excited at the new uniform coming out this August. Say recently Nike is dropping collabs for the rivalry uni’s. These were the colts, hinting at maybe another blackout? The Texans shoes are listed as White/Italy Blue. Which I attached also. Looks like Italy blue will be the HTown blue. What’re your hopes of the jersey?

Picture from when I saw CJs first ever playoff win!

Came across this old pic in my camera roll from CJ’s first playoff win against the Browns — wild that it’s already been over 2 years! Easily the best game I’ve ever been to. Still grateful I got to be there for that moment.

Hoping for another great season ahead 🤘🏻 #HTown

Stroud's QB Coach Quincy Avery with some critiques over the Caley/Stroud pairing

Source

>Avery caught wind of a recent conversation between Houston Stressans’ Garrett Williams and ESPN’s Benjamin Solak regarding the Texans’ failures around Stroud.

>Avery concurred, going even further to cast aspersions on the pairing with Caley.

>“What makes this worse is the Texans run game is s*** and they lead the league in first down run rate,” Avery said in a post on X on June 29. “Constantly playing behind the sticks with the stalest passing game plan in NFL. Finding explosive plays from behind the sticks running quick game is a sure fire way to prevent your QB from being as successful as he can be.”

> Avery continued in another post, saying, “The passing game took massive steps back last year with a new OC who clearly doesn’t see the game like CJ does (my opinion didn’t ask him about this). I honestly don’t see how the offense performs better with their offensive philosophy.”
