Why IIITD 0% attendance is a Myth !!

This is for reference if anyone is thinking to join IIITD solely on 0% attendance.

You know IIITD is known for notorious and very hard curriculum and grading system, Despite that IIITD brags about how they have 0% attendance and u do not have to come to class.

Continuous Evaluation: You have surprise quiz every week or maybe announced quiz but it will held every week.

Freedom in Courses: Majority professors deliberately have started making an attendance component. Its funny how even 2 credit courses have attendance component these days. imo my all courses have mandatory attendance so i have to attend every classes every week.

2 credit course btw

Feels like professors aren't good at all so to hide their incompetency they are making attendance mandatory. IIITD is more like 100% attendance than a normal Govt. colleges with 75% attendance.

I am not denying its bad to attend class. But its not good to make all classes mandatory and then misleading people to think ohh iiitd has 0% attendance. As a dayscholar i have to attend every class every week and get tired evryday so when is my self study time, When can i build my skills if i attend every class.

Why choosing an IIITD Tech Branch over DTU / NSUT Tech can be a better choice.

Despite Harsh Grading, Less College Life, High Fees, Less Brand Value. IIITD maybe still viable choice.

1. Elite Academics & Unmatched Ivy League / Global MS Potential

If your goal involves higher studies, an MS, or a PhD at top-tier international universities (CMU, Stanford, MIT, ETH Zurich, Columbia, IVYs), IIITD is in a completely different league known for Research-Centric Curriculum ( no shits subject like in dtu/nsut ) and Almost every professor holds a PhD from top global or premier Indian institutes and actively publishes in top-tier conferences (NeurIPS, CVPR, ACL, IEEE). Their Letters of Recommendation (LORs) carry immense weight abroad.

2. Small Batch Size = No Overcrowding
DTU and NSUT have expanded their batch sizes massively over the years. Here it's No hectic elective registrations, guaranteed access to computational resources (GPUs, servers), peaceful campus vibes, better hostel availability, and a closely-knit community where everyone actually knows each other.

3. The Peer Group: Driven, Ambitious with Amazing, Achieving and Sweet Seniors in Every Field to Guide You and One of the Best Coding Culture in Delhi

Almost everyone around you is building or learning something—whether it’s open-source software, ML, AI, research papers, GSOC and many more.
Multiple ICPC Regionals teams and AsiaWest and ICPC WF.
Dominance in national & global hackathons, Amazon ML Challenge, and major open-source programs. You can search it up more on google. Despite small batch size we are doing extremely good in some fields.

4. Research Exposure:
I know crazy seniors Second and third-year undergrads routinely author/co-author papers published in top international tier-1 conferences. There are currently 150 BTPs running concurrently under faculty guidance.

5. Tech Internships & Placements:

CSE Placement Stats: Realistically sitting at ~25 LPA average with ~90% placement rates. (Subject to may increase)

Per-Capita Quality Internships: Because there isn't a crowd of 2,000+ tech students competing for the same corporate intern slots, also IIITD students secure significantly more tech internships compared to DTU/NSUT despite batch size and with sheer no. of companies. Around 30-40% annually tech internships are secured oncampus which is a great thing for a college.

No Deluded Data: Companies coming to IIITD know they are getting pure CS/ECE talent, leading to higher PPO conversion rates.

Also there are no placement scams unlike yk which colleges which is kinda a good sign for a stable placement cell. XD

6. Freedom. IIITD treats you like an adult. You gain in modern infrastructure, 24/7 lab access, high-speed campus networks, clean sports facilities, and a tight-knit campus where events are actually student-driven without administrative hassles. IIITD was built from day one as an IT/CS-specialized research institute. Its curriculum adapts every year to industry shifts, keeping you far ahead of universities still following outdated syllabi.

Not demeaning any other colleges but i am just telling u do not have to regret that much choosing IIITD. People share academic sadness to bond better here. Thats how you make friends here.

TL;DR

If you want a chill 4 years to party, procrastinate, and cram before exam night, pick DTU/NSUT. But if you want better academics, more ambitious people, top-tier research/Ivy League prospects, insane coding culture, adult freedom, and superior per-capita placement outcomes, IIITD is the clear winner.
