Religion
Sure it's a calming notion...
Being born in a family of Christians
Feels like being the black sheep in a flock of white
Wearing a wool that was never mine
Why must our faith demand our blindness?
Maybe to prevent us from opening our eyes
Opening our eyes from the truth of this world
Trapped in a dream of an almighty savior
No one will save you,
no one but you
A flock of sheep who finds comfort behind the fence
Led by a shepherd that doesn't exist
Hypocrites
Men in robes continue to preach their purity
While their hands taint the children and present it as cleanliness
The ink on a page you keep calling divine bleeds just like any other lie
It's deafening
This is not what your God would've wanted,
no, not at all
Let this be an atheist's anthem
For every non-believer who chose to stay silent
WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO MAKE YOU SEE
Poverty. War. Abuse. Death.
Hunger. Depression. Control. Lies.
This world wasn't the paradise you paint every Sunday
You've blinded yourselves
The crusades never ended
Religion was meant to be humanity's bridge
And yet we burned it from both ends
Ignorance was always your comfort dressed up as truth
"God is good always, he loves all of you, everything is just a part of his plan"
Tell that to the children
who wished they weren't born
Why must we all throw dirt at each other
When this life never promised to us to mean anything?
We weren't made to serve an all-pow'rful creator
Our purpose here is of our creation
Sometimes I like to imagine, from God's perspective
That if God was truly more than a story
If he looked at us, he'd be disappointed
So why drown in comfortable lies?
Why bend to a script written for you?
Wouldn't it be better
if this Earth felt like Heaven
before we ever got there?
(It's like the middle of the night while I'm writing this idk if its good but Ima go to sleep hopefully Reddit doesnt break the format)
