How to retain acquired knowledge?

**A little intro first**

^(You can skip this part if you just want to read the question)

After 47 years I think I have finally found my people. Researching ADHD and sleep optimization on Methylphenidate, I came across a word I never heard before. *Polymath*. I looked it up, read about it and something just clicked into place. Suddenly a repeating pattern of my life became so much clearer.

Through my life, I have always seemed to have an easy time mastering seemingly unrelated subjects. Digging deep into theoretical knowledge and practical application alike until I either couldn't get any better at it or lost interest due to some other subject competing for my attention.

Doesn't matter if it's mechanical engineering, software, languages, online games, practical 3D print applications, classic car restoration, biology or a hundred other subjects. The result is always the same. I can see patterns that others can't. Connect the dots between seemingly unrelated subjects.

Unfortunately I seem to forget a disproportionately large part of my knowledge, that I have to relearn when returning to a subject.

Now I *know* that there are limitations to how much and how fast the human brain can comprehend and retain knowledge. I accepted that. But I feel like I should be able to remember more than I currently am.

Many things will remain, for example I can tune a 4 barrel Holly carburetor in 1965 Ford Mustang 289 cui with a screwdriver and by sound alone, even though I haven't done it for a decade and I'm not a mechanic. Others will simply stop existing entirely. It's not that I can't remember them, it's like I never learned it in the first place. I'm a software engineer, but if you ask me to draw up the software stack from hardware to GUI, I couldn't do it if my life depended on it without looking it up first.

**Here comes the actual question.**

How do I train myself, learn methods or add procedures to optimize how large a part of the knowledge I aquire I am able retain and can recall when needed?

Are there any papers, books, YouTube channels or other resources that you would advice me to research?

MGS5 Engineering mode access?

I've seen numerous posts on different forums on how to access Engineering Mode on various MG models. Unfortunately, none of them have worked on my 2025 MGS5 Luxury Long Range.

Does anyone know how I can into that menu on my specific car? I have the R25 if that makes any difference.

Cheers!

1965 Mustang paint restoration?

My brother in law just bought his childhood dream. A red 1965 Ford Mustang convertible with white interior.

The Poppy Red paint is the original paint, and being 60 years old it obviously has clear signs of fading from the sun, deep scratches, swirls from the car wash, a dent here and there and other blemishes.

I want to help him restore it as best as possible within my abilities. I am used to detailing my own newer cars, so washing, claying, waxing and polishing is not new to me. What *is* new to me, and what scares me, is doing it to a vintage paint job that is a different chemical composition, different application and an unknown reaction to the products I usually use.

So, any tips, tricks, links, must and must *not* do's would be most welcome.

Thanks!

DIY software update?

Is it possible to update the software yourself? Mine was delivered with the R25 version and from what I can see, the newest is R32 which has fixes to the, amongst other things, phone being muted for the driver constantly.

I don't mind going to a workshop to have it done if it's once in a blue moon, but seven updated since launch seems like it would be expensive to keep up with.

Looking for input on Striker variant.

Obviously I'm not far into the endgame yet as you can see, but I'm trying out new things and seeing what playstyle I like.

So far, this home duct-taped Striker + Centurion's Swap type build seems a lot of fun. Swapping correctly gives me 300 rounds for Big Alejandro where the last 200 is at +100% weapon damage, and Bloom is effective against high armor targets with the extra 20% DMG and Fire rate.

But, the trees don't grow into the sky. I feel squishy, and the Gunners 10% armor on kill doesn't really help me in a tight squeeze when fighting a Kill Squad or the like.

So, I'm looking for some inspiration to optimize my build. I know it's not Meta endgame, but it's extremely fun letting 300 rounds tear up some NPCs, and I would like to make it even better. Obviously, grinding prototypes, optimizing etc. is coming. I'm only looking for inspiration for talents (I run Perfect Obliterate on chest), cores or something else.

Thanks!
