Greenroom136 Sling Shifter — this thing feels way bigger than 2.5L

I recently used the Greenroom136 Sling Shifter on a Virginia → California trip, and honestly, I’m kind of surprised by how much this little sling holds.

On Greenroom136’s site, they list it around 2.5L, but after packing it out and actually traveling with it, I really don’t agree with that number. It feels closer to 4L–4.5L in real-world use. It swallowed more than some “larger” slings I’ve tried.

For context, mine is the wolf grey version. I added my own burnt orange/black zipper pulls to give it a little more contrast. The bag itself is made with 1000D Cordura, has a PU-coated inner shell, and the inside lining is this really nice gold ripstop nylon that makes it easy to see your gear.

What I carried in it during travel:
Eye mask
Inflatable travel pillow
Nitecore power bank
Soundcore foldable headphones
AirFly airplane audio adapter
Anker 20W travel charger
Charging cables
Wipes / sanitizer
Passport-style pouch
Small accessory pouch
TSA-safe multitool with scissors
iPhone 16 Pro Max
Kindle

The front pocket is much roomier than it looks. It has two simple fabric dump pockets, but the real win is the depth. You can actually get your hand in there and use it properly, instead of fighting the pocket.

The main compartment opens nicely and gives you a good view of everything inside. The bright lining really helps. I do think the internal organization could be better, though. One side has a pocket that honestly doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. I would have preferred a mesh zip pocket or a better divider there.

The back pocket is great for flatter items like a passport, phone, or small pouch. I do wish they had used RFID-blocking fabric back there, especially since it feels like a natural travel pocket.

A few things I really liked:
Carries more than the listed capacity suggests
Great materials and construction
Back pocket is actually useful
Good expansion/flex when packed
Strap length works well for bigger body types
External webbing and Velcro give it a nice tactical/utility look

A few things I didn’t love:
No top grab handle
Strap is not removable
Strap has no padding
Internal pocket layout could be better
Back pocket would be better with RFID protection
iPad Mini is a struggle, especially with a case

For sizing reference, I wear around a 2XL, and the strap had plenty of room. I think it could probably work for someone in the 3XL–4XL range too, depending on how they like to wear slings.

Overall, I actually really like this sling. It’s not perfect, but it’s one of those bags where the capacity feels underrated. If you want something compact that still carries a surprising amount for travel/EDC, the Sling Shifter is worth looking at.

Evergoods Civic Access Sling 1L — small but surprisingly usable

I’ve been using the new Evergoods Civic Access Sling 1L for a little bit now, and I wanted to share some honest thoughts because I didn’t want to review it right away just based on hype.

For context, I’m a big Evergoods fan, but this one had me curious because 1L sounds really small on paper. I mostly see this as a “destination sling” more than a full travel sling. Basically, it’s the kind of bag I’d pack inside a larger backpack or suitcase, then use once I get to the city/hotel/destination. It also works as a very minimal daily EDC sling if you don’t carry too much.

Build quality is exactly what I expected from Evergoods. The outside is 840D ballistic nylon with DWR coating, the inside has that gray 210D nylon lining they use, and the zippers/buckle feel very premium. The Duraflex buckle has that nice crisp snap to it. Small thing, but it does make the bag feel quality.

What I was able to fit:
iPhone Pro Max size phone in the back area
Evergoods bifold wallet
Soundcore noise-canceling earbuds/headset case OR AirPods
MagSafe phone stand
small nasal inhaler
small flashlight attached to the key leash
gum
Nitecore NB10000 power bank
charging cable
hand sanitizer or wipes, depending on the packout

The biggest surprise for me is how cleanly it opens up. Everything is visible and easy to grab. I don’t have to dig around like I do with some tiny slings. For a 1L bag, that matters a lot.

The limitation is obvious though: you have to make choices. If I carry the bigger Soundcore case, I probably leave the AirPods out. If I carry wipes, maybe I skip something else. It’s not a “throw everything in” sling. It’s more like a curated pocket dump bag.

My only real complaint is that I wish Evergoods added a slim back pocket, even just something simple for a passport. That would make it even better as a travel/destination sling. I know it’s only 1L, but a flat passport pocket would have made a lot of sense.

Overall, I really like it. I’d recommend it if you already know you want something small and organized. I would not recommend it if you’re trying to carry a water bottle, sunglasses case, big headphones, snacks, etc. That’s not what this is.

For me, it’s going to be a great “walk around the city after I arrive” sling.

Tried the REI 7L sling as a travel/EDC bag — honestly a solid value

I’ve been testing a few different slings lately for travel, light adventure use, and everyday carry, and one that honestly surprised me is the REI Ruckpack Sling 7L.
For around $60, I wasn’t expecting it to compete with the more premium sling brands, but the layout is actually really good. It has a big front dump pocket, a decent main compartment, a padded rear tech pocket, YKK zippers, a removable stabilizer strap, and the shoulder strap/back panel padding is more comfortable than I expected.

The 7L capacity feels useful without getting too bulky. I was able to fit a pretty normal travel setup in it: noise-canceling headphones, inflatable pillow, eye mask, cables, charger, AirPods, AirFly, Kindle, small pouches, sanitizer/wipes, and some other small items. It definitely works as a personal-item style sling for flights or day trips.
The biggest downside for me is the material, especially the internal lining. It feels thin, and you can kind of see through the mesh/lining in places. That’s where you can tell this is not in the same category as something built with heavier Cordura, X-Pac, or a more premium interior liner. But at the same time, that’s kind of the tradeoff at this price.

What I like most is the design. The layout just makes sense. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of some more expensive travel slings that use a very similar structure, just with upgraded materials and cleaner details.

My quick take:
Pros:
Great price, useful 7L size, comfortable strap, YKK zippers, padded tech pocket, removable stabilizer strap, good travel layout.
Cons:
Interior material feels thin, not much structure, front pocket is more of a dump pocket, and it would feel much more premium with better fabric/lining.

Overall, I think this is a really solid budget travel/EDC sling. Not perfect, but for the price, I’d actually recommend it — especially if someone wants a functional sling without spending $120–$180.

Good pen but ?

I received this pen at a conference from the Capital One booth. If anyone recognizes it and can identify the make and model, I’d really appreciate it so I can buy another one. It writes extremely well and feels very comfortable in my hand. Thank you.
