Georgia (Sakartvelo) Itinerary check 12-26 September

Hi everyone! I've drawn up my itinerary and am in the final stages - below is the current itinerary with my questions at the end. Any advice is appreciated.

Arriving Sat 12 Sep, departing Sat 26 Sep. Doing the Mestia–Ushguli trek 20–23 Sep with a group. Looking for advice on whether this routing makes sense and where I should be spending more/less time.

---

**Sat 12 – Mon 14 | Tbilisi (3 nights)**
Arriving midday Saturday. Plan is to use this as a base for a Kakheti day trip on the Monday (it's harvest season so seems like good timing). Is 3 nights in Tbilisi about right, or would time be better spent elsewhere?

**Tue 15 – Wed 16 | Kazbegi (2 nights)**
Heading up the Georgian Military Highway, overnight in Kazbegi, day hike on Wednesday before heading west to Kutaisi. Is 2 nights enough here or is this worth extending?

**Thu 17 – Fri 18 | Kutaisi (2 nights)**
Staging point before Svaneti — meeting hiking companions here on Saturday morning. I have a free day on Friday with not much planned. Is Kutaisi worth 2 nights or is there somewhere better to spend this time?

**Sat 19 | Transit → Mestia**
Meeting companions early morning, then heading straight through Zugdidi to Mestia. Arriving afternoon.

**Sun 20 – Wed 23 | Mestia–Ushguli Trek (4 days)**
Mestia → Zhabeshi → Adishi → Iprali → Ushguli. Returning to Mestia by jeep taxi on the evening of the 23rd.

**Thu 24 | Mestia → Tbilisi**
Full day transit back.

**Fri 25 – Sat 26 | Tbilisi (2 nights)**
Plan is Mtskheta day trip on Friday. Flying home Saturday.

---

**Main questions:**

  1. Is the Kazbegi → Kutaisi routing sensible, or is there somewhere I'm missing between the two?
  2. Is Kutaisi worth 2 nights as a staging point, or should I be somewhere else on that Friday?
  3. Am I spending too long / not long enough anywhere?
  4. Anything obvious I've left out for a September trip?

Thanks in advance!

Itinerary Check September

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Hi everyone!

I am visiting your beautiful country after having wanted to for years. I've got my itinerary here and I was hoping you could help me with refining my itinerary.

I have my questions alongside for each leg, and would appreciate any other advice. My main questions are:

Is Kutaisi worthwhile or is my time spent better elsewhere?

Is 2 days enough in Kazbegi for the activities listed?

Is a daytrip to Kakheti sufficient or should I spend a night?

I'd also appreciate any recommendations of where to stay in Tbilisi, any specifically cool areas (I'm more alternative so seeing what the alt scene is like there would be cool if there is one) or restaurants to visit, etc.

I hope I've provided enough info, but please ask if you'd like me to clarify anything!

Thanks in advance and I'm really excited for my trip.

Have any of you ExpatCoast?

Curious as to whether anyone here quit, sold all their shit and moved away to do something like workaway while waiting for their investments to grow to FIRE point?

I've been thinking a lot about what form of FIRE I want. Ideal is to work 6 months on 6 months off, but I don't know how realistic that is to get temp gigs paying what I earn now.

Bedroom lighting for rental

Hi All,

Already garnered some great advice from digging through previous threads, but wanted to ask about specific ideas for my space. I am renting so any purchases will be freestanding or easy to apply and remove if fixed to the wall.

As you can see, I only have one light which hangs low in the middle. At night I have insufficient lighting for my desk/PC setup you see in the far left corner and also insufficient light where the yellow ? is. Apologies for the lack of picture there (will delete and repost if needed), but they're built-in cupboards (mostly clothes) about 70% the length of the room that are too dim at night if I need to get something. There are plugpoints inside the cupboard on the far left (when facing them but otherwise no convenient power sources. The white doors (centre and left) can be blocked by lamps if appropriate as they are not used for daily access.

My thought is for the blue circle on the left to get a torchiere, perhaps with an attached/separate spotlight for the desk, but should I be trying to backlight the desk instead/additionally for when I'm on my PC? As you can see, windows galore behind the desk. I can move it forward if needed to put lighting behind.

Blue circle on the right would just be for general room ambience, but maybe the same type of torchiere as on the left.

Yellow is my biggest problem as I'm not at all sure what/where to put lighting there that's not in the walking area - feels like I need something ceiling-mounted.

Not from the US, but happy to receive specific links of products and then see what I can get similarly over here.

Open to any and all recommendations, but nothing particularly pricey considering I am renting.
