I think the line that connects the argument people like Sophie Cunningham are making to keep trans women out of women's sports (when its not even a thing thats happening) and the argument they are now laying out to dismantle title IX is a very obvious straight line.

I do think this is entirely related to the WNBA because the anti-trans propaganda is going to very soon become anti-"masculine" women sports like basketball/soccer/hockey etc. Given one of the most popular athletes in the W is now an anti-trans activist (Sophie) I think its important to raise awareness about what is actually going on here.

Why doesn’t Sabrina Ionescue get talked about like Arike Ogunbowale?

Their career stats are pretty similar: 39 vs 40% from the field, Sabrina a bit better from the FT line (both excellent), and nearly identical 34.5/34.6% from 3. Sabrina’s 3P% is also buoyed by one year at 45% and has otherwise not been great.

Both are high volume, low efficiency scorers who pull up a ton. Both are having particularly rough starts to the year, but the Liberty are the team well below where they’d like to be in the standings. I recognize Sabrina has been hurt some but she’s also struggling when she is playing.

It seems weird to me that there’s SUCH a chasm in how much Arike’s gunner habits get discussed vs. Sabrina’s. Is it as simple as everything gets papered over if you win a championship? Or what is it?
