Switches on terminating stations

Switches on terminating stations

Some players dislike to start switches right from the end of the platform (while it's so convenient to build diamond like this), because terminating train may be unable to change track and go back. Sometimes, you got 200m station and 197m train, and it wont fit. How this is possible? And where to start switches?

I found that on terminating station, by default, game puts barrier (is that correct term?), which eats up about 3-4m of track and platform. I assume trains are not allowed to touch this barrier, so about 5-6m of station length is lost.

To address this little thing, obvious solution is longer platform, but sometimes you got no space. Here, i added short piece of track to use all the platform length:

Game doesnt require electrification or high speed on this piece

Here goes actual example, station length is 280m, train length - 278m. Sounds dangerous 😄

Default and elongated track for comparision

This is rear of the train, exactly 2m left before the switch

Cargo disconnection investigation (spoiler: it wasn't bug, it's me)

Hi guys, it seemed to me that some cities have become smaller, but i was too busy minmaxing HSR and I thought it was fluctuations. I was wrong.

This area seems to be abandoned

Step 1. Checked i actually lost hundred cims (893 -795) and corresponding amount of C/I buildings. The reason is no goods.

https://preview.redd.it/plnkkzlzblah1.png?width=912&format=png&auto=webp&s=f51e42c52eb2293edfafb9df902e582783984387

Step 2. Goods factory appears to be completely dead, despite there is enough steel there. Obviously this is plastic.

https://preview.redd.it/jtr97gknclah1.png?width=757&format=png&auto=webp&s=6aeb29812399eebdf47abcf592e570991848e8ce

Step 3. Chemical plant is dead too, because of no refined oil.

https://preview.redd.it/kxmzsvvfdlah1.png?width=1120&format=png&auto=webp&s=a7b5f63ef08acc8270a3d22c6e4869d514b07fbe

Step 4. Refined oil goes by train, then by another train, then by cargotramtrain, then by ship. Being quiet confident in rail connections, on trains i only cheched cargo filters.

Step 5. Ships. Being pretty sure i never changed cargo filters for oil route, i double checked it and found interesting moment - there is no option for liquids.

So it wasn't bug, it's just failed attempt to upgrade ships. I've used Towboat, not compliant with oil. Due to the rush, I only checked that the plastic was moving correctly. Now i have to wait few years before everything will restore. Don't repeat my mistakes 😄

Schaffhausen again, approaching Harbin to get oil.

HSR construction surprises

Does your cargo train, limited to 70 kmh, benefit from high speed tracks?

YES OF COURSE.

https://preview.redd.it/psdhj4vig6ah1.png?width=1916&format=png&auto=webp&s=db2d3672be444d220b3dc14cf0f6571a8117a8d2

Middle (slow track) is actually supposed for departing Shinkansen, upper track is cargo. Before i upgraded it, it was 56-58 kmh on curve, now it's 64-65.

https://preview.redd.it/z3scf64wg6ah1.png?width=1916&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad70d5bdbefc7683990786b52dc94f8fc0d2e40e

Unfortunately, double slip switch got no such glitch and stays the same speed.

Improved a lot of curves like this (slower curved parts of track are high speed now, faster straight - still slow track). 😄

Generally what's the point of slow tracks, if they can't work efficiently with slow speeds?

Main hub is almost steam free for now

Bypass station in action, all trains are 200 kmh with same acceleration

"Post" button is greyed out and no visible title field when creating posts

Few weeks ago a new interface (www) stopped working so i am only able to create posts in old version of site. This is not related to write access to subreddits since i can post from this old.reddit.com with no issues. Comments are working as usual.

Tried to turn off adblock, clear browser cache and change from Opera to Chrome with no effect. Any other ideas?

Is there an option to turn off forever any interface changes for my account?
