Vegans of Nunavut, do you wear sealskin boots? What’s life up there when you’re vegan?

heya

I’m a vegetarian who lives in British Columbia and I realized I’ve never spoken to a vegan of Nunavut. How’s the food and the fashion?

I have no issue with using animals to make clothing, as I do not support folks freezing to death but rather support being warm and comfy. But, I had a though…

What do folks who are vegan do up north? Is it cool cause your friend made you sealskin boots then used all the animal, or is it still not cool to wear animals?

Also, how’s the food? I feel fruits would be difficult to keep fresh, and lots of products I take advantage of would be too expensive to ship.

I always figured if I went north, I’d live off Yummy Shawarma, and do my best to force my lifelong vegetarian body to be able to process fish and mammals without illness.

We have 500k saved up for a down payment, should we buy a house in Metro Vancouver?

Hello. My partner and I currently rent and are thinking of buying a 2 bed + den condo or townhouse. All our savings, including retirement, adds up to around 1.2 million and we would like to use 500k for a house down payment. I’m uncertain if it’s worth it to buy or rent in this economy though, so help?

Financials

  1. 500k to 600k available for a down payment

  2. 200k to 300k for the emergency fund

  3. Approx. 500k in retirement

  4. Income is 230k per year

  5. Current rent is about 4.5k for a 2 bed and den townhouse

  6. Zero debt

If we lived in Toronto, we would have got a house a while ago. We live in Metro Vancouver and cannot be far from the hospital which means we’re looking at the pricy parts of the city, at least 1 million or more likely 1.2 million which is the highest we’re willing to go. At the same time, we can’t move due to the same reasons we need to be near the hospital, so perhaps buying is better?

Can you guess which is my first language, and which is my second and third languages? Have fun!

I am native in one language, C1+ in a second, and A2 in a third!

I live in a First Nation owned development on First Nation owned land like Senákw. Does anyone have any questions? AMA

I rent an apartment in a First Nation owned development on First Nation owned land, a lot like Senákw. I’ve had a fantastic time living here and thought I’d share my experience with others.

So, questions?

Staycation fun for someone with limited mobility and low energy? I have Long Covid and partner wants to take me out tomorrow!

Odd to pick travel when I live here!

I suffer from Long Covid and my partner wants to take me out tomorrow. Where should we go?

I was thinking he could drive me around Stanley Park and maybe we could get lunch downtown or on Granville Island? I need a place with outdoor seating.

I can walk very short distances but it tires me out. I’m also partially Blind, so prefer non-visual experiences.

Any ideas?

hello.

I’m disabled and hate flying. Where can I go on a trip from here? I’ve already gone to Whistler and Victoria.

I’m really sad cause I cannot think of any destinations at all.
