Where can I find lightweight, super breathable loungewear for summer?

It's getting hotter and I don't have air conditioning at my place so I'm looking for breathable clothes to chill and sleep in. Preferably oversized and cooling. Thanks in advance! 🫶

Fancy butter in Vancouver

I just read about this fancy french butter called Beillevaire crunchy butter. I can find a place in Seattle to buy it, but I don't go to the States or buy from the States any more. I must find this butter! Or a reasonable facsimile. Does anyone know of a place in Vancouver or anywhere in BC that would carry it?

Vancouver opinion of Lost Canadians moving from the U.S. to Vancouver

Sorry, I know I'm not supposed to editorialize, but here's some backstory. My maternal grandmother who raised me was born in Ontario and married a German immigrant in her teens and moved to the U.S. with him before Canadians became Canadian Citizens instead of British Subjects in 1947; because of this I'm a Lost Canadian. In December '25 the (ironically) sexist law preventing my citizenship was overturned (thank you Canada - sincerely) and I filed the paperwork for my proof of citizenship. My spouse and I owned a small business in the U.S. Midwest - a LGBTQIA+ / metaphysical / occult bookstore. We were going to sign a lease and move the store to downtown Winnipeg after our store (in the U.S.) started getting threats and I had a gun pulled on me, figuring Winnipeg would be the "path of least resistance" for moving the store as it was closest and cheapest area near us. We were (and still are) waiting in my citizenship paperwork and we wanted to get a gauge of the sentiment in Winnipeg.

Holy sh*t did we get it - I got called every name I got called in high school all over again and a few I had to look up. I took the post down after 100 comments - literally 90% (90 of the 100) said either "don't bring your maga hats and guns to Canada", "you just want to live here to leech off our free healthcare", or "you're not really a Canadian" or some variation of two or more of those; 1) neither my spouse nor I voted for him 2) we want to live to Canada because I had a gun pulled on me 3) yea, we kinda need healthcare which is why we want to move to Canada...so...kinda fair...I guess 4) yeah, I guess that's kinda true that "I'm not really a Canadian" even though I was raised by a Canadian woman and watched MuchMusic instead of MTV - but I get it. I showed the comments in their entirety to the 5 other people I was helping fill out the same paperwork (a college professor, 2 nurses, a software developer, and a school teacher) and ..well, none of us will be moving to Winnipeg. Ever. My spouse and I decided to close our store - we had planned on trying to keep it open in order to transfer a couple of employees who are trans up to Winnipeg...but considering the feedback I got, they are considering other options.

So why am I posting in a Vancouver subreddit? Winnipeg was *not* our first choice - Vancouver was. I lived in Seattle and Portland and would spend many many weekends in Vancouver. I ran a startup in Seattle with a German company and we actually even though about moving the operation to Canada - when I tried to incorporate a business and get a passport that's actually how I found out I didn't (yet) have Canadian citizenship.

I get the whole "elbows up" thing - and I get the animosity towards some of the people from the US. Trust me, those same people treat me the same way and that's why my spouse and I and my adult child want to leave the U.S. I also know Winnipeg is probably not the best gauge of the sentiment of all of Canada. Can I please though, get some honest feedback of what Vancouver is like now for people from the U.S. immigrating into the city? Just please refrain from the name calling and stereotypes I got in the Winnipeg subreddit.

For anyone who went to PCRM clinic

My referral is 11 weeks in.

Did they still have you line up in the morning to scans?

Is it true all blood tests are handled by Lifelabs?

Do they adjust protocols if there’s an adverse issue - and more importantly can you speak with a doctor? Or is it a game of telephone with the nurses?

Are they responsive?

After 3 years of delays, and the last 7 months waiting around at Olive, only to have a failed priming cycle due to fainting and adverse event, I played a game of telephone with the nurses, I have no idea if doctor got the right info, I will start a natural cycle they don’t recommend ( because they wanted the exact same protocol that hurt me despite some existing chronic issues) . And I wanted to speak with doctor to make sure info is correct as I got a clue of conflicting info among nurses- my cycle is supposed to start in a few days and they booked me to talk to doctor on JUNE 24!! Thereby likely missing 2 more cycles.

GenZ and Dating

Is it just me, or is dating nowadays terrible? Online dating sucks. In person, it's so hard to meet people, even as friends. I wish there were a way to meet new people, but not through clubbing or bars. Not everyone is willing to have a long-term relationship, in my experience.

For Vancouver folks in their 20s–30s: a childhood nostalgia-themed afternoon this Sunday

My friend and I are hosting an outdoor childhood nostalgia-themed event in Vancouver this Sunday, May 24🌷

The idea came from realizing how little time we actually spend reconnecting with our childhood selves beyond just saying “I miss being a kid.” We wanted to create something slower and more intentional where people can reflect, be creative, and meet others through shared memories and nostalgia.

We’ll have:
- childhood snacks
- nostalgic little trinkets/items
- custom reflection cards about childhood memories
- drawing in the park as the main activity
- soft pastel & whimsical decor

It’s meant to feel very comforting, creative, and low-pressure!

If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, the ticket link in down below and details are on our Instagram @mudflower___ (three underscores) :)

A wholesome interaction at Kits Beach last week with a Ukrainian gentleman 🥺

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a really heartwarming interaction my friend and I had at Kitsilano Beach today.

We were just taking a stroll, and I was busy taking some photos of my friend with my camera. Out of nowhere, this older gentleman walked up to us. He pointed at my camera and made a gesturing motion, clearly offering to take a photo of the two of us together.

Now, I’m usually pretty protective of my camera gear and hesitate to hand it over to strangers, so I politely handed him my phone instead. He took a photo, but when I went to thank him, he kept insisting and pointing back at my actual camera.

I was a bit confused at first, but then he managed to explain that he was Ukrainian and didn't speak much English. I pulled out Google Translate so we could actually communicate, and honestly, it turned into the sweetest moment.

It turns out, he wasn't just trying to be polite he was genuinely fascinated by my camera and wanted to learn how it worked, while also giving us a nice memory. We spent about five minutes using the translator app to explain the basics of the camera to him. Once he got the hang of it, he happily took a photo of us with it!

When I thanked him through the app, the translation of what he said back was something along the lines of: "When you do good deeds, say okay and move on." I assume it’s a beautiful Ukrainian idiom about doing good for others without expecting anything in return.

Afterward, he walked back over to his wife who was sitting on a nearby bench, and we all waved goodbye to each other.

With so much heavy stuff going on in the world, having a pure, human connection like that across a language barrier completely made my week. To that lovely gentleman and his wife, if you're out there, thank you for making Kits Beach a little brighter!

Need to get all my filler dissolved before a facelift. I’ve googled but a lot of the places seem to have bad reviews. Would love to hear from someone with personal experience Thanks in advance!

Community dragon boat day May 24th ($2 donation for a 1-hour session)

Hello everyone I just wanted to share this event happening on Sunday. I believe it happens 3 times per year and basically there are three dragon boating sessions available for the day, for a $2 donation. I had so much fun last year and I wished more people knew about it so they could join in! No experience is necessary and all skill levels are accepted. I'm not affiliated with this organization or event at all, I just want to raise awareness for it because it's an amazing opportunity I'm grateful for and I'm super excited to go myself.
