Tips for growing out stubborn, type 2B hair?
Hi! I've been trying to grow out my hair for almost 5 years now, but it's never worked out for me. I have thick, wavy hair and the longest it's ever been is an inch or two below my shoulders. With the way it is right now, I find that there isn't a lot I can do with it. If I tie it up in a ponytail, it doesn't look that good, but it usually looks really messy if I just leave it be. I'd like it to at least grow to my chest but I'm slowly starting to lose hope considering I've barely had any progress for half a decade.
Here's my routine/more info:
- I get my hair trimmed every 2 months but I find that it doesn't help much either. This is probably as far as it can grow but I'd really like any inputs on what else I can do besides maintenance trims. I also take vitamin D tablets.
- I only shampoo once a week, and I wash my hair with water everyday because it looks messy as sin otherwise.
- I don't use straighteners, curling irons or blow dryers on my hair at all.
- I use regular drugstore shampoo/conditioner since I can't afford anything premium. I should probably switch to a leave-in conditioner, and I'd love suggestions for products that don't break the bank (if leave-ins are better)
