I wasn't paying attention, and I booked a 4 nights July end (2x my card, and 2x wife card), pre-paid (for the first half of year), for our EU trip. Didn't pay attention to news about heat wave.
Now we are rethinking the city, planning on instead visiting cooler higher elevation cities.
Any way to avoid clawback? like maybe request them to allow change the hotel/city etc? any data points?

Green card expires early september 10th.
I am aware I can apply Schengen visa with I751 receipt notice. But ...
So can't apply I-751 until June 10th (90 days before expiry date of GC).
Option 1:
Wait till I get receipt notice for I-751, then apply Schengen visa around June 15th. I am afraid that might be leaving things for too late and might not get my passport back by my travel date.
Option 2:
Apply Schengen visa with proof that I will travel back to my country of citizenship after August 15th.
Which one would you all suggest is a safer way?

Seems like either she watched too much inner light or this is a real phenomenon that trek got the idea from.
