Chase Sapphire Reserve Lounge

Traveling though San Diego airport and surprised to learn that the CSR lounge is one of the Amex allowed lounges to use. Is this common where the 2 brands share lounges??

Potential workaround to $50 gift card increment

At lululemon in Wailea earlier today. Overheard a transaction where the manager said lululemon policy is now to do $50 increments for the Amex $75. After some persistence from the customer, they found that if you have a physical gift card manager can add the full $75 to that. Manager was happy and said “wow this workaround is going to save me a lot of headaches”

Sorry if posted earlier. Just saw the exchange and thought the community may find helpful.

AMEX Travel site trying to book me with the wrong card

When I log in to the travel site, I see my platinum card next to my name on the upper right hand corner. When I put in details of the flight I want to book, the flights come up , but my card changes to my Bonvoy card and I don't see the Platinum fares. Besides removing cards from my online account, is there any way to fix this? They do not have the same last 5 digits, and I haven't had this problem in the past booking flights.

Thanks

The stupid AMEX passport did it's job🤣

I am in Cambodia and have been having a very difficult time getting a swipe on my AMEX to fill in the country on the "passport" (I carry my visa CSP with me because of this) - even Starbucks didn't accept it. I was about to go to the Park Hyatt just to buy something and get a swipe in Cambodia, when I stumbled across a huge, international grocery store (3 floors).

I figured that they may accept it, so I bought 2 packs of wine gums ($5 minimum spend for cards). When I went to use the plat, the cashier said "oh" and ran off. She came back with a completely different reader than the 2 already at the register, that had the AMEX logo on it.

So, long story, but mission successful!

Damn you, Amex... Your little gimmick got me 🤣

Data Point : FHR property credit is baked into the hotel rate

TL;DR: Same hotel, same 4-night stay, but my additional cardholder account showed a lower non-FHR rate, while my wife’s primary Platinum account showed it as Fine Hotels + Resorts. The FHR version was about $79 more total in the screenshots, before considering the hotel credit/FHR perks. Since the $100 property credit is basically offset by the higher price, the real value is mostly the other FHR benefits.

It’s been brought up before, but I wanted to add another data point with screenshots.
My wife is the primary Platinum cardholder and I’m added as an additional cardholder. Lately, I’ve been having issues seeing Fine Hotels + Resorts listings under my own account, so I had her download the Amex app and search from her account as well.
The hotel in question was The Henderson Beach Resort & Spa in Destin, FL for a 4-night stay.
On my account, the hotel was showing as a regular listing with a total price of $1,946.05, including taxes and fees.

The breakdown showed:
4 nights: $1,526.20
Average nightly rate: $381.55
Taxes & fees: $198.37
Taxes/fees due at property: $221.48
Resort fee: $196.00
On my wife’s account, the same hotel was showing under Fine Hotels + Resorts with a total price of $2,025.00. The breakdown showed:
4 nights: $1,596.00
Average nightly rate: $399.00
Taxes & fees: $207.52
Taxes/fees due at property: $221.48
Resort fee: $196.00

So in this case, the FHR listing was about $78.95 more total than the non-FHR listing I was seeing.
Granted, booking the FHR rate would allow us to use the hotel credit and get the usual FHR perks, but the $100 property credit is basically a wash when the FHR price is already higher. The remaining value would really come down to the other FHR benefits like breakfast, late checkout, potential upgrade, etc.

Just wanted to provide another data point for anyone else comparing searches between a primary Platinum account and an additional cardholder account.

Also, it’s pretty annoying because I currently can’t reliably see FHR listings under my account. According to Amex chat, travel is undergoing maintenance, so maybe that’s part of it.

Amex FHR booked on June 30 but posted on July 1. Any Help?

I'm looking for some help.

I booked an Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) reservation on June 30, and the charge showed as pending that day. However, it didn't post until July 1.

As a result, Amex applied it toward my second-half hotel credit instead of my first-half credit, meaning I effectively lost the unused $300 credit from the first half of the year.

Customer service told me they can't manually adjust it because the benefit is triggered automatically when the transaction is processed.

The Terms & Conditions mention that eligible purchases must be "processed" by the deadline, but I'm wondering if anyone has successfully argued that a purchase made on June 30 should qualify, even if it posted the next day.

Has anyone had success with this issue?

I'd appreciate any advice or experiences. This is my first time using the benefit.

LAX Centurion Lounge Access After Midnight

I have a departing flight out of LAX at 12:05 AM, and the LAX Centurion Lounge closes at 10:00 PM.

Has anyone had recent experience at the LAX Centurion Lounge with a just-after-midnight departure? Would I be able to enter around 9:05 PM (or ideally earlier), or are they strict about the "same-day departing flight" policy?

I reached out to Amex customer support, they said I would have to ask the lounge staff in person.

Would love to hear any recent data points. Thanks!

Asked and received the Saks credit

Saw a post here that few people got $50 Goodwill credit for the discontinued Saks credit.

I chatted twice but they didn’t budge and gave me the marketing spiel about other benefits. I called and asked them politely but they again said it’s for low-tenure members.

I went back to the post and saw that even people whose membership was from the 80’s and a decade old were getting it. That’s when I wanted to stop being nice.

I called them third time. Referred to the previous call and asked for a manager. Asked the manager that how is it that the guy I referred the card gets nicer benefits while I get screwed i.e. am I paying annual fee to subsidise other people getting nice benefits?? I personally felt foul play for being loyal.

I reminded him that Amex is one of the only bank where the customer and customer service are equally powered to raise disputes and Amex in 100% of the cases just gives an automatic credit for disputes less than $10. So, I asked him if we wanna actually “play” by the rules .. just 5-6 disputes away. He then said .. that’s too much for $50 and gave the credit.

Before someone says “dispute a lot and they will close the account”… Amex has a very big threshold before they cancel, dependent on spend. I got to know this from someone inside Amex.

FHR Credit posted after June 30

Yes I’ve read all the threads on this - and most of them are wrong. I booked and fully paid for FHR booking at 11:30 pm US Central on June 30 (have screenshots). The booking did not settle until July 1 and just today (7/3) the FHR credit was applied for the 2nd half of 2026.

I realize the FHR terms state delays can occur but this goes against all the “read the text idiot” posts on all these locked threads. The transaction timestamp for the fully prepaid booking was NOT honored as far as applying the first half of year $300 credit. That is all.

Caution Restaurants in Hotels (e.g. Paloma in Pigeon Forge) #ResyCredits

Practice caution when doing restaurants inside hotels when seeking places on Resy to utilize AmexPlat Resy credits. I did this at Paloma in Pigeon Forge, TN and failed to get the credit.

Resy lists this as eligible for the credit….But the restaurant still charged it from the hotel instead of the restaurant. So despite making a Resy reservation, going to the restaurant, and paying with the card, it was charged as the Hotel and therefore “Lodging”.

After spending longer than desired with Amex, they told me I needed to get the restaurant to recharge it as the restaurant. The restaurant and the managers had no clue and were not supportive or effective despite numerous calls.

I ended up spending way more time trying to get $100 than it was worth, and remained fruitless. I hope this does not happen to others.

Enjoy and take care!

Platinum to Schwab platinum

I’m considering switched to the Schwab platinum card…anyone regret it? Or love it?

I plan on using all my same perks, I ended up with ~$1300 in benefits this past 12 months. I just don’t use the actual Amex points. They just sit.

Oura credit

I was just scouting their ring prices and saw in the neighborhood of $399…but they also have gift cards in increments of $25. Can I buy 8, then when January hits I’ll have my new 2027 $200 credit plus $200 of gift cards from my 2026 benefit and buy the ring outright off Platinum benefits?

Asks goodwill credit

Just got $50 posted to my account and it’s listed as saks goodwill. Looks like they’re just giving us the credit considering there was nothing really to buy recently from them.

I didn’t use the credit so not sure what people will get if they did.

Edit: damn autocorrect got me on the title

premium rental protection coverage

I need help with following scenario while using the premier car rental insurance. I planning to rent car over two weekends fri to sun.

Will this(single enrollment over 30 days) coverage run thru these two seperate car bookings or do i have to re-enroll it the second time?

If this coverage extends over multiple booking, does it matter if the car booking is from different providers or does this need to be the same provider to make any difference?

New and needing advice

Active duty military and i get the annual fee waived. Applied twice for this card with 780 credit and keep only getting approved for 50k welcome points when they advertise up to 180k. I keep denying the offer for that reason. How can I get more reward points to start. And how should I use this card? Gas? Food? Flights? Everything?
