Overbooting? First time changing skates
Hi! I’m 25 years old and I weigh 63kg. I used to be a rollerblader but quit about 5 years ago. I had no previous experience on quad skates. At the beginning of the year I decided to pursue my actual passion which is artistic roller skating. I bought kinda cheap but not terrible boots, but after skating in them for a year i feel horrible in them. I just started jumping. The soles of my feet feel like i’m jumping in concrete and they’re painful. They also have very sticky wheels (my rink is a wooden floor and my wheels feel like they get stuck so they actually make me fall because i can’t spin correctly). I talked about it with my coach and she said it would be good to change my skates, especially because the brand i have doesn’t have other wheels or models.
Now, i’m just beginning to jump. I can’t land a toe loop yet. But i do intend to skate for as long as my body allows me to. And while waiting for my coach’s advice on what model to upgrade to (she’s still giving classes and will get back to me later today), i came across this model:
Boot Edea Fly, variant M + giotto + abec 1. They’re a price that’s within my budget. And they’re listed in intermediate level.
So, the whole overbooting issue. I’m not a complete beginner but i’m not advanced either. This model I’m attaching is listed under “intermediate” and it’s a price I can afford. However, I know the edea flys are used in top tier competition and they’re not ideal for my level. it’s my dream boot, like many people, but i don’t want to harm my skating just to have a pretty boot. But is my weight and age enough to bend the stiffness of a Fly pair? or should i look for a softer pair?
I want to upgrade to a boot that will last me a bit and I saw my dream boot at an affordable price but don’t want to hinder my skating just because I like them. But also i know the whole overbooting issue changes if you’re an adult.
So what do you think? Thank you in advance
