Chargeback next step?
Hi! I purchased an e-bike via Walmart from Ancheer which is 3rd party retailer. It arrived broken. (Lesson learned)The battery should be detached. It arrived attached and then ripped off. I reached out to Walmart and they submitted a request on my behalf. The seller has 48 hours to reply. After 24 they did and asked for pictures. I sent those on 5/17 at 3am. This company only communicates in the middle of the night. I just happened to be up for the bathroom.
Anyway, I have not heard from them and it’s 5/20. I went back to Walmart at the 24 hour mark to ask a question and the rep said my best bet was a chargeback. I was stunned to see this was the first solution. I used my debit card so will that still be protected?
This morning they said that they would submit a return request on my behalf. However, they said it’s up to the seller whether or not they will accept the return request. The bike is used and broken and still partially in packaging. I’ll send it back for free. I’ll take a replacement. I just want a solution. I’ve had reps tell me different things. I’ve save screenshots of my convos with them. One says 48 hours, one said I need to wait 72(not true), one said chargeback and one said refund will come in 10 days. Last one says they’ll submit the request. They’ll email me a free return label once the 3rd party agrees. No one knows what’s happening.
It’s a birthday gift for my son whose birthday is this Friday. I wanted to try to get a refund so I could buy another bike in time for his birthday, but that’s not going to happen.
TLDR will Walmart accept a chargeback on debit card from sending broken bike? The Walmart rep suggested it.
Thanks!
