40M, Newish to Indiana, Going through divorce and looking for people to connect with
I moved to Indiana two years ago. I’m a family guy, always have been, so naturally I didn’t prioritize making friends. I realize now that this was a mistake.
Last week my wife and I decided it would be best to get divorced. So….
During this time, I realized that my “friends” I thought I had here were actually just her friends who tolerated me at parties. I’m basically the guy who showed up to the group chat and never got added.
I work 40 minutes from home, and all my coworkers live near the office, so my after-work social life is a ghost town. I drive home, and it’s just me and a podcast or an audiobook.
So here I am on Reddit, which is either a great idea or a cry for help; still deciding.
I like driving around with no destination and getting pleasantly lost, hiking, kayaking, live music, reading (very slowly), and watching movies.
To be clear, I’m not out here trying to replace a wife with a Reddit stranger. Just looking for someone to hopefully have a great conversation with. If local, possibly hike a trail or grab a bite. Platonic. Fully clothed. Emotionally available in a normal, non-weird way.
