Is this a red flag?
(Regarding a school term time job. I'm not a teacher, just random customer upport staff in an educational place. ) i am the only person who has my job and works unsociable hours.
Does this count as a red flag?
manager says twice in writing on 2 different occasions that your last working day is this week thats just gone. As they have said this twice, you have made other plans.
Then, manager texts and calls in the middle of the week to say that actually you need to attend next week and do your shifts. No accountability and no apology about saying a different date beforehand twice. I even said I wasnt well when they did the usual 'are ya okay?' And they didnt give a damn.
As I'm scared of authority and letting ppl down, i said okay.
The issue is that the manager straight away made a follow up email after our phone call to put it in writing that I will attend.
What do i do?

Me and my family live in the UK and we live in a very small city. It's not often the first choice or that well known to people.
In October 2025, me and my family went on a holiday organised by a travel agent. (Religious pilgrimage holiday called Umrah). People from all over the world come here understandably.
This is a massive thing for my family because we never had altogether gone abroad before this.
The travel agent was based in the uk and had contacts in the country we visited (middle east) and they did the work for us such as organising our tour guides etc.
On the first day we arrived, our tour guide met us at night and helped us with our pilgrimage rituals. That's the last time and only time we saw eachother again. We don't know eachother beforehand either.
I still had his number and he had mine, maybe for future use if we needed a guide again. We never messaged again.
As time goes by, I find out he's from a very small town in Pakistan, like a village.
8 months later, I find out that his sister came to the city me and my family live in to do a masters degree between 2024 to 2025. She graduated before we went for the holiday AND she went to the exact university i went to and studied in the very same department I studied. That university is behind my house too so we may have even seen eachother subconsciously around this small city.
Such a weird coincidence that she chose that exact university and city to live in and her brother was a significant part of our holiday.
I work term time and my manager kept telling me my last working day before summer would be a day this week of june. Its a part time role and I am permanent. It is a higher educational institution.
It is because I asked twice via email and she said the same reply for both. I asked firstly back in February and then again a couple of weeks ago to reconfirm the date.
For the past 3 weeks, One coworker has been quite nosey and kept asking me when my last day is/how long is my contract and to email my manager to confirm stuff. She seemed jealous when I said my manager told me I end this week but she got loads of info out of me and I felt manipulated.
Today, manager just sent me a text saying
"Hi, Icymistake, just a reminder that you have 2 weeks remaining before you finish for the summer".
I was under the impression that I am now done for the summer because of those past emails.
She didn't email me all week but suddenly sent that text on my non working today at 5.30 pm. Why couldn't she email that to me? Why text it?
She herself works until 3.30 or 4pm. She never checks up on me and we never see echother because of shift timing and because I am in another building.
I dont even know what I will do in those 2 weeks because all the students have completed their courses and teachers have ended classes too...so technically, I am not needed at all. I mainly will be sat alone in an empty building at an unsociable time.
And I start a new residential temp job this Saturday! It's 6 hours away. It's with a different employer. I was offered the job and accepted only because my manager told me I'd finish work this week.
What do I do?
I didnt hand in any notice. Are they trying to push me out? I have felt they dislike me and they're hostile towards me. I feel gossiped about and feel as if they all complain about me to my manager.
