Calling Orange Cat Experts

Are these the same cat?? The first 3 pictures are a big boy I TNRd in December. He was big a fluffy so I named him Puff.

A "new cat" arrived already fixed and I named him Henry. I was scrolling through my photos and I think Henry may be Puff! If so, his coat thinned out a lot for summer and hes much skinnier. Puff was friendly when I got him fixed so I am leaning 85% that this is the same cat.

First pets last night, revolution plus and more pets tonight

I finally did it y'all!! She got her first pets!! She only lets me pet her while she is eating. If I sneak a pet when shes walking by she hisses and gives me the side eye. Ill take the elevator butt as she likes it but doesnt want to admit it 🤣.

She has also begun lightly rubbing on my legs when I stand near her. She started just letting the tip of her tail touch me a few days ago to doing a full rub today 🥹. She is officially spending like 22 hours a day on my porch/in my front yard. She is also coming when I call for her. Shes such a smart girl.

She is also looking inside my house every time I open the door. I fear one day she is just going to run in and shell be met with 2 dogs and 3 cats 😶. For her sake, I hope she doesnt do that.

Formerly Feral Oranges

I love orange cats. I am newer to the cat world - only 2 years of having a cat and within that time frame I have grown to having 3 cats 🤣... all orange.

Photo 1 - Darrell r/formerlyferal

Photo 2 - Mandy r/formerlyferal and the mom to my OG orange kitty Oscar (in the last photo)

What a journey its been. I have learned so much about cats and have since TNRd 15 adults and found homes/socialized 10 kittens. I dont regret it at all.

Sweet girl rolled over right in front of me this morning!

I have known this kitty since October when I moved to this neighborhood. She was already TNRd and seemed to hang around my neighbors back yard. She had never let anyone get close and as soon as she would see a human she would run and hide. She got to the point where she wouldnt immediately run but wouldn't let me within 75 yards.

Fast forward to the beginning of July. I went away for 2 weeks and my neighbor left food out for her. I got a few videos from my partner of her on our porch meowing so loud that he heard her through the closed windows upstairs! He put out food for her and she chowed down.

I came back less than a week ago and now shes letting me within a few feet of her and I have her on a feeding schedule. She spends all day under my car on the cool concrete.

This morning, I got within arms reach of her! She rolled over and showed me her cute belly. She wasn't even hungry! I went back inside to get back to work and she laid on the porch facing the door for 45 minutes until a garbage truck scared her. I hope ill be petting her very soon and can get revolution plus on her.

Let's see how long it takes to sneak a pet 😊

Went on vacation and returned to my "feral"

This sweet girl was already TNRd when I moved to this neighborhood in October. She stops by to eat daily but bolts any time she hears me near my front door.

I went on vacation for 2 weeks and I came back to a friendly kitty. She is meowing for food nonstop and I even caught her sleeping for hours on my front porch. She finally got within arms reach and even ate right in front of me!

Its so funny how they just decide to domesticate themselves one day. She will be #formerlyferal very soon.

Today Was Mandy's Surrender Appointment at a No Kill Shelter

Today was supposed to be the day I surrendered Mandy to a no-kill shelter for adoption...

Well... needless to say... she is the newest official member of my family 😂

I didnt want 5 animals, yet here we are with 2 dogs and 3 cats. I went to grab Mandy to get her into a carrier for the drive north yesterday and she knew something was up. She would NOT let me catch her. I left her behind and made my drive with 3 kittens to surrender.

I got a picture from my partner of her in bed watching TV with him later that night . Shes never done that before. She knew what she was doing running away from me.

Mandy won 🏆

Never ending kittens

Ive caught 2 female oranges and 1 male so far! There are 7 orange kittens total. I dont think ill be able to find homes for all of them but fingers crossed I can get most of them off the streets. They're so precious and little 🥹. They have been absolutely flea ridden. The first girl I got over 40 off of her and she only weighs 2 pounds 😭.

Picture 1 and 2; female named Gouda

Picture 3 and 4; male named Cheddar

Picture 5; female named Marscapone

I have another bathroom with 3 other kittens that will be placed at a no kill shelter 18 hours north in 2 weeks. My house is CHAOS. I am sticking with the cheese naming theme 😁.

Turning 6 kittens from feral to adoptable is easy compared to adults but man I am exhausted. From my 2 dogs and 3 adult cats plus these 6 kittens i am going crazy. Non stop cleaning and poop duty.

Welcome to Formerly Feral my little kittens!!

They've made it! It only took just over 48 hours but they are all purring machines now!

The first picture; brothers who poop together stay together 😆

I was able to give them dawn dish soap baths, capstar, and drontal yesterday. They are pooping out all of the round worms today 🤢. I also gave them a topical flea med today. I have been finding fleas but they are all dead. I am in cleaning mode now to ensure they stay flea free from here on out! They are now eating so much food. They will be nice and plump in no time.

I am still waiting to hear from a few rescues/shelters for these babies. They are definitely ready for forever homes so I hope I can get them there very soon!

Kittens are so much easier to tame than adults. After taming 3 adults this past year I am thrilled to have 3 easy kittens.

Just hit 48 hours indoors

Brie has found her voice and climbs me to snuggle. I witnessed her first purr when I was holding her like a baby today.

Pepper is still a bit spicy but hes coming along and learning from his siblings.

Jack is a sweetie who loves playing with the fish wand toy.

All 3 got flea baths and some topical flea treatments today. Next will be dewormer once they eat something besides churu in front of me.

They all rate churu 10/10.

These 3 will be joining the former feral crew very soon!

Just trapped these little kittens last night. They will be going from feral to formerly feral in the next few days and I hope to find them a home through a rescue. I think they are around 12 weeks. If I cant get a rescue to accept or find them homes, unfortunately TNR will be my only option 🥲. But for now, im staying positive that they will get forever homes.

One of them im 75% sure is a girl and shes already warmed up a lot. Another is 100% a male and he discovered churu and has decided to no longer be feral. The last I havent been able to take a look yet. Very spicy kitten. I named the girl Brie and the assumed 2 boys Pepper and Jack since they were the spicy 2 of the bunch.

How to deal with TNRing kittens 😭

I just trapped 3 kittens in my neighborhood. I have been asking everyone in the neighborhood if they know someone who wants a kitten. How do yall deal with TNRing tiny babies? I have them in my bathroom right now and I plan to hold them for a week or two until giving up and TNRing. I am on a wait list for my humane society but I am not hopeful that they will get space for them. Even if I find homes for these, I have 3 more in the neighborhood that are around the same age. Ive TNRd 15 adults and found homes for 5 kittens. Ive never actually released kittens and the thought makes me so sad.

Does anyone else's orange make air biscuits while eating?

This formerly feral girl lived outside for 5-6 years and has been inside for 8 months. Every time she eats she makes these little air biscuits 🤯

This momma had her last litter🥳

I worked up the courage to talk to her "owners" in the neighborhood. Shes been hanging out with her 3 kittens at this one house for weeks. Shes very friendly with them. I asked if they would like to get her spayed and they said "yes we have been wanting to" and I ran home, grabbed my trap, they shoved her in and off she goes tomorrow to get spayed!

Her 3 kittens look about 8 weeks old but I am going to wait a few more weeks to ensure they are big enough for TNR. My clinic requires 2 lbs but I want to be sure they are over that before ushering them into traps.

I am so happy I finally asked them and that they complied. Her life is about to be 10x easier 🥲. I bet shes pregnant again already. We will find out tomorrow!

I always give my TNRs a churu. They deserve to taste the liquid gold before going back to their outdoor lives. Most of the time I have to put it on top of their food. But this spicy girl was brave enough to eat directly from the tube!

🔥 Hot ▲ 5.1k r/torties

This is my first time ever seeing a tortie that looks like this. If you have one, please share in the comments!

Its my little way of remembering every kitty I have helped along the way. Pictured is the little lady that started it all, Mandy. She was my first ever TNR. I saw her with her 4 kittens and had to step up and help. Since then, I've helped soo many more kitties, all thanks to her 🥰
