Watched it with my wife and we loved it. I really hope season 3 happens

For a simple live sound setup, with guitar, bass and drums plus vocals, where only the vocals go through the main speakers what is a reasonable area in front of the band to targets for a “good mix and volume”?

How do you get the best mix in a well defined area and how big should it be?

We have basically a sound check to get this close to right and we can make some adjustments between sets.
