2006 XC70 Torn CV Axel Boot

My boyfriend was telling me to look into rebuild kits because CV Axels tend to be the most incorrectly manufactured replacement parts on cars and the only one I couldn’t find many options for one besides a Duralast Gold one from Autozone… he said I should look into a rebuild kit or even just a boot, but I’m having trouble finding anything like that. Does anyone have any recommendations, advice, etc?

2 Main issues I’ve found, please help!

So I’ve had this car a month or 2, absolutely love it, I just have found 2 issues which out of a curious nature, I want to have an idea of what’s going on now lol!
1- I bought it with the distinct wheel bearing sound. It was pretty intense and would kind of drown out any additional sounds. I replaced the brakes as well, just made the most sense. Once that was done I noticed two new sounds; a squeak/squeal at low speeds, specifically when turning to the right, but sometimes at other points; and an occasional clunk at lower speeds. Both tend to occur on backroads where the pavement is bumpy, uneven, or gravel. Any suggestions!
2- there is a leak on the driver side floor. It only affects the floor, both front and back, and only on the driver side. It does seem to correlate with the rain, and it is specifically right below the pedals. I’ve already started ordering new weather stripping as that is a bit dry rotted and worn on that side, but any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance, it’s going to the mechanic for an alignment and timing belt replacement specifically, but I’ll be asking about everything mentioned in this post. Just curious if anyone has any ideas or suggestions!

Ordered new pads and rotors from FCP, can I send my old ones back?

Just bought this car so the old pads and rotors are not, to my knowledge, from FCP. I know FCP has the lifetime warranty though, so I was just curious if I could still send my old ones back to them for exchange. I’m guessing probably not lol. But figured I may as well ask around before I just junk them!

Her first Brembos and first stickers🥹

They’re getting put on this weekend actually, but as a girly who loves stickers, I couldn’t wait to put them on lol! Got a new gas cap as well, still pulling a minor evap. leak code. Any ideas?

Occasional death shake of steering wheel?

Hey XC70 community, got a new question about my 06 XC70. So when I originally test drove it and purchased it about a week and a half ago, I knew it needed new wheel bearings (wheel hubs). The sound was very obviously the wheel bearings, didn’t realize I needed new brakes till I took my wheel off to replace the wheel bearings, so I’m waiting on the brakes to get here before I replace the wheel bearings. On my way to work Monday however, it randomly started doing the infamous death shake and strongly pulling to the passenger side. What’s weird to me, is it stopped within about 5 minutes… there was a gas station very close to me so when it started, I decided that would be the safest stop but it stopped before I ever got there. I still stopped and checked all tires and checked that all my wheels were on tight, everything in that regard was fine. It’s done it 3 other times at varying speeds and road conditions (I.e. wet pavement, gravel) and it seems to start after I’ve had to use my brakes or if I’ve hit a pot hole or bump in the road. Nothing off with engine or trans, have a minor evap leak code that popped up but that should be a fairly easy fix (new gas cap, hopefully that’s all). My current thoughts are it’s like my passenger side brake caliper getting a bit stuck or maybe my wheel bearing are just that bad. My boyfriend mentioned it could be something going on with my power steering, but I don’t have a leak of PS fluid or anything that really flags me as PS.
I just wanted to see if anyone here had any other ideas of what it could be? Thank you in advance!

93’ Jag XJ6 not starting, suspected Anti Theft Issue

We have a 1993 Jag XJ6 Vander Plas that will not start at all. Battery is charged, windows including sunroof will roll up and down, phone turns on, power seats will move, fuel pump seems to activate; but the dash lights do not come on, it will not turn on, starter is not engaging, it doesn’t even try to turn over, the phone says “Locked”. Only symptoms no lights, no gauges, no crank not even a click, battery is fully charge. It’s my boyfriend’s car, he is a mechanic but he is baffled by this. All fuses are good. Tried a few methods to reset the Anti-Theft, but those failed. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Edit- when the key first goes in, all the lights turn on, but when you turn it, they all turn back off.

A few random questions, new to the Volvo Community

A few questions about my 2006 XC70, this is my second post of the night in here but I swear it’s different lol!
1- My oil filter is not side mounted it on the bottom of the car, this spiked my boyfriend’s attention because his friend had a V70 of the same year with the same 2.5 5cyl turbo and his was side mounted. So is this normal lol?
2- Check engine light came on for minor evap code. I looked it up, everything I read said it shouldn’t affect anything (it hasn’t) but I should probably replace my gas cap. I will, but also, it does click shut. My gas door however, does not lock shut when you close it. At some point while I’m driving it does, but it does not when I initially shut it. So any ideas here, in case it’s not the gas cap?
3-Wheel recs? Mine has black wheels which I’m not a huge fan of, should I just get stock rims? Any suggestions?
4-Tire suggestions? I live in Ohio so if it’s a weather condition, I’m experiencing it lmao.
5- Park Assist Sensors bad; I’ve yet to try my park assist because this was something that popped up when I bought the car. But just curious, is it worth replacing? I can park just fine without, but should I just fix it anyways? I mean why not right? Thoughts? Opinions?
Thanks for any and all input in advance!

Pick a kit!

Need help picking out a timing belt kit for my 2006 XC70. I understand this may be worth going to a dealership for, but I don’t have one near me so I’m taking it to a local mechanic. He can order parts for me, but I want to do it so that I know exactly what’s going on my car and that I can trust it.
I could order a Genuine Volvo kit which comes with the belt, tensioner, and idler. Or I could order the Continental one which comes with the belt, tensioner, idler, water pump, cam seals, and coolant (don’t really care about the coolant tbh). I feel like the answer is probably obvious, but there’s a lot of factors here. I figure I probably should replace the water pump and cam seals while I’m replacing the timing belt especially being the first time under my care, so if I don’t order the Continental one, I have to order those parts in addition. And yes the Volvo one is technically cheaper but that doesn’t factor in having to order the additional parts.
I’ve inserted pictures of the kits and the cars as I had a comment on my last post (asking for tips and advice after recently purchasing this car) asking for a picture and I was unable to insert one there! She’s beautiful and my boyfriend is an auto body mechanic so he’s going to help me restore my headlights and fix up some scratches. It’s the Ocean race edition, I unfortunately don’t have any pics of the interior but it has the beautiful light blue stitching!
Ooo Edit: Wheel and tire recs!! Please and thank you! Don’t like the black rims, might just get it some stocks if I can lol.

2 years full time catching up to me…

I’ve been doing this about 2.5 years and I work mostly full time, 4 days a week, 10a-6p. Recently I started having an achy burning pain accompanied by swelling and weakness from my right elbow clear into thumb and index finger. I have a good brace and compression sleeve I’ve been using where I can and of course I’ve been doing stretching and massage work on myself, both my coworkers have even done some techniques. I’ve done hot stones, some cupping, and I’ve been icing it daily. It just doesn’t seem to really be letting up, I know I should probably try to cut back and everything but that’s not an option at the moment. Anyone here have any advice or suggestions, maybe some specific stretches you recommend or techniques? Anything is greatly appreciated!

Tips, tricks, and everything else!

Hi, I just purchased a 2006 Volvo XC70, have wanted one for a longtime and finally found one I liked and met the criteria I was looking for! She’s a little higher miles (still well under 150,000), but well maintained and I plan on taking good care of her!
Anyway, wanted to reach out to the community and see if anyone had any tips, tricks, advice, etc for the car! My boyfriend is a mechanic and will likely do most maintenance so any mechanical advice is also greatly appreciated.
