Help with some PC’s for an upcoming campaign

Hi all!

So im coming to the end of a dnd campaign im currently running and my group has been laying the groundwork for what will start stater that had finished, a Star Wars rpg campaign.

We’ve all been looking into it a lot and as the GM I’ve of course been reading over all of the rules and helping them work their character ideas into something that can be played in game (and in our one shots to help them learn the system before the full campaign)

I have a few questions though sbout what should be done for a couple of them.

First up, one player wants to play an ex-clone trooper. This campaign is going to be set 1-2 years before a new hope in an edge of thr empire campaign so he would be rather old by this point. My question is, should he play a hired gun with his choice of specialisation or would it be appropriate to use the clone soldier career from the clone wars era books? Especially since he wants to have been an officer and for that leadership quality to carry over.

For this one I mainly just wanted to be sure that there were no problems mechanically using one of those careers for a campaign set outside of their intended use.

Second one is that two of my players want to play a pair of ex-ISB from the empire. One wants to specialise in slicing while the other wants to be a signals analyst. Im worried that those two skills may overlap a lot when actually playing at the tabletop? Since they’re both intelligence/computers skills to my understanding. Of course, if that’s what they want to do and Theyre okay with that overlap then there’s no problems but if it is a problem then I feel it’s something I should warn them about.

Thank you all in advance for any help or advice!

TLDR: for an edge campaign should an ex-clone play hired gun or clone soldier and would a slicer and a signals analyst in the same party overlap too much?

Ideas to enhance this combat scenario?

Hi all!

I am dm for a couple year long campaign and we are now in the final arc and nearing the end.

The party are about to be taking the fight to (potential spoilers for attack on titan if you havent yet watched it) a group of zombifies stone giants that are marching on a city to trample it.

I didnt realise the parallel to the show when i originally decided that i wanted this scenario to happen buy here we are.

Now the party have decided to take this fight to the giants rather than wait and risk the city meaning this fight will be happening on open land. Moreover they have already fought stone giants previously.

So what im asking is if anyone here has some ideas on what i can do to enhance this combat to make it more unique than "hit them until their collective hp is zero". There can be other enemies and they dont have to be regular stone giant stat blocks. Id like their to be something unique going on with the environment as well but im struggling with these factors.

They are a level 11 party of a warlock, two fighters, a paladin and a wizard.

Any help is massively appreciated!

Edit: for additional campaign context they may also have a controlled and weaponised version of a magical disease that targets Giants ready to go for this battle.
