[GM Wanted]

I'm looking for a GM interested in running a very unconventional Star Wars campaign inspired by Dr Stone, survival, diplomacy, exploration, and long-term strategy.

A Sith superweapon designed during the height of the Sith Empire capable not of destruction, but of petrifying living beings into stone like stasis. A battlefield ending, war ending device that traps entire armies in frozen time.

During the Sith Empire era, the Republic uncovered the existence of the weapon and launched a full scale effort to stop it before it could be deployed again. In the final conflict over the site, the situation escalated beyond control and the device activated… Both Republic and Sith forces frozen in stone…

The Sith leadership, recognizing it as another Malachor scale catastrophe, abandoned the site and sealed away what knowledge remained of it. Over time, it became a legend, an object of fear rather than ambition. But legends don’t stay buried, across the ages the galaxy kept finding it again.

Republic expeditions, CIS treasure recoveries, Hutt syndicate operations, Imperial archaeological divisions and Rebel intelligence operations. Each one drawn to the same forbidden world and each one lost to the same fate.

And then something changed…At some point far beyond recorded history, galactic civilization collapsed entirely. Whether caused by Abeloth, the Yuuzhan Vong, or another galaxy ending catastrophe, the result was the same.. All major civilizations disappeared. Hyperlanes fell silent, technology decayed and worlds were reclaimed by nature.

Millions of years pass and the weapon decays, slowly it begins to fail and its hold weakens with the stone beginning to crack. One by one, its prisoners awaken. The campaign begins as individuals from completely different eras of Star Wars history emerge into a galaxy that no longer remembers them. All of them stranded in a dead galaxy with no functioning civilization.

I'm looking for a GM who enjoys long term storytelling, political tension, survival mechanics, and strategic, player driven world building. If this sounds like a campaign you'd enjoy running, I'd love to hear from you.

We can talk about which day or time you want to run this, I am on a GMT timezone but i do have a friend who wants to join that works off the PT timezone and can only play games on Thursday and Friday, if those days are impossible we can figure out something else.

Important Thing to Consider in Character Creation?

I'm looking into the system and trying to craft up some characters I might play.
I'm considering species and skills, trying to build a colonist doctor as an idea. How important would intelligence five be? Is four enough? Are there other bits I should be considering?

Dark side villains.

Hey folks. I'm curious what sort of darkbside villains or groups you use in your games. I've been thinking about using a hutt dark sider as a villain who runs a pirate gang out in wild space. I've also been thinking about using the Sorcerers of Tund from the EU as a basis for a new dark side cult for post RotJ.

JNE-5: Modified R4-I9

JNE-5 is a modified Imperial R4-I9 astromech droid. His R4 head has been removed and replaced with, what appears to be, the head of an I9 Seeker Droid. What is not widely known is that he retains his dangling under arms and repulsor units, which are hidden within the R4 body. He can detach his head from his body, and it can float independently. In emergencies, he can remotely control his body, but he can only direct it to move.

What skill best fits this application?

When I play any TTRPG, there's a specific kind of roll that my characters tend to specialize in. However, many systems do not account for this skill by default, requiring me to discuss with the GM what skill roll to use. It can be best defined as "forecasting probable outcomes, assessing or understanding situations, and figuring out what to do." Basically a skill to get GM advice when making plans. Note that this is different from actually carrying out the plan, which may be up to a different roll. What skill in the FFG system best fits this application? It seems like it would fall under either Cunning or Intellect, though Vigilance also seems pretty close (side note: why isn't Vigilance a Cunning skill??).

An experienced DM looking for a starter adventure.

I ran this game years ago. Literally started it the week before covid and went about a year. Since then, my table switched to almost exclusively DnD (mostly because I was a brand new GM and SWRPG is a doosy to start out with. And Dimension 20 is a good way to teach me how to run DnD). But, I’m trying to get back into SWRPG with a whole new group of players who’ve never played before. I was wondering what starting adventure you all think is best for new players. I’m probably gonna try end up doing AoR because that fantasy sounds fun for this particular group of do-gooders, but allow them to make characters with any of the 3 core rulebooks (but we’ll all use Duty). So, either AoR specific or system agnostic adventures you think would be good for a group of DnD players swapping to this amazing game!

Tuesday Inquisition: Ask Anything!

Every Tuesday we open a thread to let people ask questions about the system or the game without judgement. New players and GMs are encouraged to ask questions here.

The rules:

• Any question about the FFG Star Wars RPG is fine. Rules, character creation, GMing, advice, purchasing. All good.

• No question shaming. This sub has generally been good about that, but explicitly no question shaming.

• Keep canon questions/discussion limited to stuff regarding rules. This is more about the game than the setting.

Ask away!

Looking for some advice on Clone Wars campaign

I am starting a Clone Wars Campaign and my general plan is set. It'll be just like the show with adventures inside the war. My only issue is the starting structure for my players.

Force and Destiny states that the group either gets a Jedi Holocron, a ship worth up to 70k credits or a mentor. These options are fine, but don't really fit for what I want to do.

In the show, the main characters each have a lot of ships and gear but my group should have something to work towards. But the republic should also help with gear and ships without them getting too strong.

Does anyone have experience with a campaign like this? Or just share general ideas what I could do?

My FIrst Attempt at a VTT Map

This was my first attempt at map-making for VTT.

This is a SciFi Hanger Bay, Briefing Room, Lounge, and Office/bedroom.

I may try to find a more friendly program to make maps in. I used Chronos Builder, and it's ok, but just feels unfinished. I backed them on KS, and I figured I'd give it a try.

You can download it for free for VTT here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/hanger-bay-1-160538934?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link

A beginer's character creation

I’m currently working on a character for a solo campaign my girlfriend wants to run. I’ve been a huge fan of the Lasats ever since I discovered them, and the idea of wielding a double-bladed lightsaber adapted from a bo rifle is a dream come true.

I have a rough outline for his backstory: an orphan of the Lassan Purge, he was bought by a collector who, witnessing his limited abilities with the Force, decided that this collector’s item might allow him to acquire even more—and so he was sent on a mission as a temple raider, an unscrupulous archaeologist, and an explorer in search of rarities.

I’ve looked into the Pathfinder and Hermit specializations and I’m a bit undecided, but I’m also open to other suggestions.

As a solo player, to keep things balanced, my partner suggested I start with two specializations, potentially from different career paths.

With that in mind, do you have any recommendations, suggestions, or other advice?

Feel free to share—I’ll take it all!

Career with coercion, heavy weapons and fistfighting.

Hello, I have a question regarding the available specializations. We don't have all the books, so perhaps this information is in one we're missing. I'd like to create a Wookiee who isn't particularly subtle, if you know what I mean. I'd like to have the following career skills: coercion, heavy weapons, and fistfighting. Unfortunately, we can't find a career that includes all three. Does such a thing currently exist? Is there any way to achieve this build? Thank you in advance for your answers! P.S.: We are French and have the books in French, so the terminology might not be entirely accurate.

Force Adherent

Hello, I have a few questions about the Force Adherent Specialization:

What is it meant to mean?

Could a character who is not Force-sensitive, or who somehow had their connection severed, invest in this type of specialization?

Do you have examples of uses for this specialization? I would like to know about characters who have used it.

Campaign Poster!

Had some friends pay to have Gonzalo Flores, an artist who worked on several Star Wars Saga books artworks make this art for our campaign way back when. Felt like finally throwing it up along with work in progress sketches he did.

The campaign is a alternate timeline we've been running for all our shared games where Revan died during the Mando-jedi war, The Republic and Mandalorians united afterwards and lured the Sith Empire armada to Malachor where they activated the Mass Shadow Generator together, basically allowing a Mandalorian Super state to exist called "The Mandalorian Protectorate", put the Republic, Mandalorians, and Sith Empire on relatively even footing, and cause a more militarized jedi order to exist (Nihlus still happens and along with Katarr, The Revanchists who refused to rejoin the order instead re-found the jedi order with the others dead.)

The campaign Dark Awakenings itself takes places on Korriban, 60 years after Revan's death following a descendant of Naga Sadow (Sith), A child of a Sith Lord on the Dark Council (Human), and fallen jedi Padawan now Sith acolyte (Kel-Dorian) as they go through their education together in the midst of a Republic Invasion.

Hope you guys love the artwork!

Single Player looking for a PBP!

Hey there! I am a long time fan of Star Wars, long time lover of TTRPG’s but very new to the world of the SWRPG! To keep it simple, I am MST based, and with my job I can usually reply 3-4 times daily! (Though if you reply less than that, absolutely no problem).

I am looking for a game either focused on or at least allowing force users, and one that will be long term, with an evolving and changing story with our characters in the center.

That said, if you have a hard time finding other players, I am more than happy to have this be a One on One campaign and collaborate more closely on the story!

This would be my first time playing the system, and like I said, my only prerequisite is that my character will be a Force sensitive. Whatever crazy pitches you have for a story, hit me with em! I am just as excited to create the world as you are:)

In game call

Running my SWRPG last night. The PCs are on foot in a jungle against scout trooper minions whizzing by on speeders. Player wants to cut down a smallish tree with her Slicewire to hit them or block their path. Given the description that the slicewire cuts through almost anything, and the tree is stationary, cutting down is no problem. No check. The check is to make it fall in their path such that it is an obstacle in the first place.

Now what skill to apply. We aren't trying to determine damage. This is timing, and angle to intercept moving speeders. So we used Knowledge Education to do the math and figure out where to drop it. Difficulty was Daunting 4p, but she has a massive pool and spent a light side destiny point. Makes it with 3 success.

No effect yet, they are still moving. On their next turn, the troopers have to make a piloting planetary check to avoid this unexpected obstacle with the difficulty set by her successes +1 for their speed, so Daunting again 4p. They fail but with 3 advantages. I ruled that it took out one trooper of the minion group entirely. Cue explosion and Wilhelm scream.

This was all on the fly in the heat of combat, so I was obviously making up a ruling. In the light of day, how would you all have ruled this? I am open to being just wrong lol.

Edit. So far, skills that have been suggested include: Skullduggery, Coordination, Survival, Cunning, and I used Knowledge Education. I could see a case for any or all of them honestly. So I feel marginally better about the whole ruling. I love this system.

Star wars actual plays

Hey all, I'm curious if anyone has any good recent actual plays. I've listened to Dice for Brains and Force Majuere as I see those thrown out a lot (rightfully so). I'm wondering if anyone has anything more recent, especially using force and destiny though I'm open to any of the systems.
