How do I get better at this?
Hey!
I'm still fairly new to playing and due to living in the middle of nowhere, I don't have many opportunities to play with other people.
The people I play with are very experienced and they usually meet up 3-4x a week for a gamenight and they're usually playing a strong bracket 3/low bracket 4 and all the way up to cEDH decks.
This poses a slight issue, since I practically only have precons, and my deck building needs a lot of work.
Everyone is super nice about digging around for a precon when I can make it to gamenight or lending me a deck to play, but I still feel like I'm bringing down the vibe.
Obviously when I'm playing a totally unfamiliar deck I'm gonna be a lot slower than if I played a deck I'm familiar with, which ruins the tempo, but when I play a familiar deck I also bring down the pace because they lower the power level so drastically.
I'm not the greatest deckbuilder, but everyone I play with is cool with proxies so price isn't an issue.
My biggest downfall in deck building (and life in general) is lack of focus, so while I have ideas that may be good, I suck at taking the ideas and turning them into playable decks!
Do you have any ideas for a deck that can keep up in a bracket 4 game, that's still straight forward enough to be piloted be a noob/bad player?
I usually don't struggle too much with keeping up with what everyone else has going on, unless someone absolutely kicks tf off, but I feel like I'm playing solitaire with half a deck of cards while the people around me are waging a battle through their carboard minions when I make it game night, and I feel like it brings down the vibe for everyone.
Any thoughts are appreciated, and I'd love to get some ideas for decks I could make, or good commanders that'd give me a fighting chance!
Don't know how relevant it is, but I'm most confident playing Golgari, Simic and Sultai and I'm ok with colorless decks as well, at least Eldrazi and artifacts have been alright thus far.
