How many miles is too many for a boosting a 9th gen Si?
About a year ago I got my 2012 FG4 with 89,000 miles on it. Since I have had it, I have driven it hard, but have been meticulous on maintenance doing my oil changes every 3000 miles and transmission fluid changes every 6000 (I know that may be excessive.) At 102,000 I did a valve adjustment. It has now been about 500 miles since then. I would love to supercharge her in a year or so with the Kraftwerks/Rotrex kit and get 330whp max, but I want to know how many miles are too many to do that?
Although she is my daily right now, I have been considering getting a cheap more fuel efficient beater such as a fit to rack up the miles on as my new work commute is going to be around 800-1000 miles a month. Obviously I am aware that a compression and a leakdown test are probably more important to gauge whether it is suitable to boost, but I wanted to see if anyone has experience with either this specific kit or just boosting at higher mileage in general? Along with that what can I expect my cars life expectancy to be after boosting? I know the transmissions tend to lose the synchros when you make over 280hp, but as far as the engine goes how many more miles do people get on average?
