how financially hard is it to raise a child in this day and age?

For context me and my partner are both in our twenties, both have decently paying jobs within the auto trade and in July we will officially be homeowners. it has always been my plan to have a child around my mid twenties and i feel as though next year is a good time for us both, however i am very much a "you make sacrifices and you make it work" person when it comes to affording to raise a child and my partner is very much an extremely money concious person (which of course is a great thing to be) and he struggles to see past the figures of how much the internet tells you the average child costs to raise.

There is no question that i imagine its financially hard in some aspect on anyone who isnt a millionaire but is it a case of you make it work or is it a case of you should have some decent money behind you specifically for the idea of kids before you even think about it. i suppose what im really asking is if you could go back to before having a baby is there a figure you'd have in mind that you wish you had saved in advance to prepare for at least the beginning?

Sikkens' new clear coat OPTIMA Fast

Hi, just wondered if anyone else is using or have noticed issues with Sikkens new clearcoat? Its just been implimented at my place of work and all three painters are having issues with a bittiness in the clear.

No issues like this previously when using sikkens' superior lacquer.

Consistantly having to flat and polish entire panels is killing us off😀🔫

( we do tack-rag panels before clear coating! As our first thought was stood up base coat dust on the blend panels)

I should also probably mention this is ofc being used in conjunction with their new optima base coat.

Seller gone MIA

FTB here, we viewed and offered on a property on the 28th of march and had a call on the 28th to say it had been accepted.

However as we were going with skipton track record mortgage we had a bit of a waiting period in regards to getting our mortgage offer so all in all with bank holidays and EA delays we were offered a mortgage property and submitted out solicitor paperwork on the 1st of may.

Fast forward to today we have been informed that the seller hasnt instructed his soliciors or filled out and returned any of his contract pack, his soliciors and our sales progressor have been in touch several times over the past two weeks but noone can get ahold of them.

Should i be feeling concerned?

We had a second viewing on the 1st and it was visable that the sellers were moving things out (for context its a gentleman selling the property as his mother has been put into care) So i dont feel too nervous about him actively pulling out but i just find it strange that after all this time i thought we would be delaying things not the seller as it was made a point to us by the EA that he wanted a quick sale due to the house money covering his mothers care fees.

The survey is being done today so at this point all the sales waiting on us the seller themselves!

edit: cant back out of survey unfortunately everythings been booked and paid for in advance as time wasnt really on our side due to being evicted from our rented property in line for the new renters rights however searches wont get ordered until seller provides his paperwork regardless.
