how financially hard is it to raise a child in this day and age?
For context me and my partner are both in our twenties, both have decently paying jobs within the auto trade and in July we will officially be homeowners. it has always been my plan to have a child around my mid twenties and i feel as though next year is a good time for us both, however i am very much a "you make sacrifices and you make it work" person when it comes to affording to raise a child and my partner is very much an extremely money concious person (which of course is a great thing to be) and he struggles to see past the figures of how much the internet tells you the average child costs to raise.
There is no question that i imagine its financially hard in some aspect on anyone who isnt a millionaire but is it a case of you make it work or is it a case of you should have some decent money behind you specifically for the idea of kids before you even think about it. i suppose what im really asking is if you could go back to before having a baby is there a figure you'd have in mind that you wish you had saved in advance to prepare for at least the beginning?
