[Discussion] How long does the Artist ID Verification process typically take on Saatchi Art?

Hi everyone,

I recently started setting up my professional artist profile on Saatchi Art and initiated the ID verification process a few days ago. I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

My profile is completely ready to go, but the verification status is still pending. For those of you who actively sell on the platform, how long did it take for your ID to get approved? Should I expect it to clear in a few days, or does it typically take weeks?

I'd really appreciate any insights or recent experiences with their onboarding times so I know what to expect. Thanks in advance!🙂

[Discussion) How do you mentally value extreme, hundreds-of-hours labor in a fast-paced creative world?

Hi everyone,

I recently finished my largest project yet—a massive 70 x 100cm traditional portrait, done with fine charcoal powder on heavy paper. It took me over 350 hours of intensive labor. Maintaining consistent values and blending on that scale was a massive physical and mental challenge.

As I'm transitioning into sharing my original work and building a career, I've hit a major mental block regarding how we, as creators, value our time.

When a single project takes hundreds of hours, it feels incredibly difficult to evaluate its worth. It either feels unattainable for a developing profile, or like discounting weeks of my life and technical dedication if I don't account for the time spent.

I’d love to start a discussion here: How do you mentally approach the worth of extreme, labor-intensive traditional art today?

For those who do hyperrealism or high-detail work, how do you value your dedication without burning out or feeling underappreciated?

My latest large-scale hyperrealistic portrait. Done with fine charcoal powder on 70x100cm paper, 350+ hours of work.

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my most recent and biggest project with this community.

It's a large-scale hyperrealistic piece that took me around 350 hours of intensive labor.

Fine charcoal powder on heavy hammer paper.

Size: 70 x 100 cm.

Blending and maintaining consistent values over such a large surface was a huge challenge, but working with charcoal powder is always an incredible process.

I’ve included the full shot as the first slide, along with a few close-ups so you can see the grain, skin texture, and details up close.

I would love to hear what you think or answer any questions about my blending and drawing process! What do you think, is it good enough, any constructive criticism is welcome.😊👌

[Art Market] Pricing advice for a large-scale hyperrealistic charcoal drawing (70x100cm, 350+ hours of work)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on pricing my latest piece. It’s a large-scale hyperrealistic drawing that took roughly 350 hours of work.

Medium: Fine charcoal powder + graphite on heavy hammer paper , 70 x 100 cm.

Style: High-detail hyperrealism.

I am currently finalizing my artist verification on Saatchi Art and plan to list the original there. However, I am having a hard time balancing a fair market price with the platform's 35-40% commission.

Considering the massive time investment versus my current career stage, I am thinking of a listing price around 4500$ on Saatchi, which would leave me with about 2,700$ after their cut.

My questions are:

Does this price range sound reasonable for a piece of this scale and detail?

How do you usually factor in Saatchi’s 40% commission without pricing yourself out?

Is it worth offering high-quality giclée prints for a piece like this?

I would deeply appreciate any insights or critiques on my pricing logic.

Thank you!
