Stool Retention

My 16 year old son is in the hospital for the second time this month. He isnt toilet trained andvstill retains his stool, refusing to poop until.he is full of meds and asleep and has no choice. This has been going on for years and his colon is now distended to over 9 cm.

After the first admission that involved disimpaction amd a clean out, he made it less than a week.before being readmitted. During that time on doctor's orders we gave him 5 caps of miralax a day and two extra strength senna a day plus a ducoloax suppository the final day. He refused to poop and was admitted with a 9.2 cm mass of stool in his rectum.

No one knows what to do for him. We believe the problem to be behavioral but cant treat it and it is becoming life threatening. I.would welcome ideas from anyone who has been.through something similar.

Thank you.

Ive been so exhausted for months, its really impacting my functioning. I requested my thyroid be checked and TSH was high but everything else normal. Doctor started me on a tiny dose of levothyroxine and symptoms have not improved. My sister was just diagnosed with Hashimotos so the doctor says I have it too, but she doesnt want to test for antibodies, as it would not alrer her treatment.

Meanwhile, im so tired my.PCP thinks I have chronic fatigue. Im unbelievably tired and dont wake up rested but I have other symptoms that seem like they are related to hypothyroidism: brain fog, hair loss, edema in my ankles, and constipation. Ive also started to exoerience intense hunger that wakes me up at night. Im a caregiver for a teen with profound disabilities so of course im always stressed, but I haven't always felt this way.

I cant exercise anymore. I cant even get out of bed, but its not depression. I really want to feel better but I dont know what to do. I dont think these symptoms are psychological, but I honestly dont care. I just want to feel better. What can I do?

Thank you so much for reading this and for sharing any ideas.
