Palmolive Building
The bright spotlight atop the 37-story
Palmolive Building (919 N. Michigan Ave) is the historic Lindbergh Beacon. Installed in 1930, it was originally a 2-billion candlepower beam designed to guide early aviators. Today, it sweeps in a limited arc over Lake Michigan and only operates on Saturdays and Sundays from sundown to 11:00 PM.
