A question about a particular Austrian president
I’ve been studying the end of the Habsburg Empire and the early republics that formed after the dissolution.
. How is Karl Renner perceived today? He was a vehement antisemite who supported the Anschluss, but he also formed the Austrian republics. Is he regarded as a heroic/great figure in modern Austria or is his legacy greatly tarnished by his relationship with the Nazis?
Any books on him and figures such as him would be appreciated as well if anyone has recommendations. Admittedly, I only speak English - we don’t really teach languages here, but I am learning German.
