Burst pipe in my basement. Need emergency cleanup. What do I do?

I woke up to a burst pipe in my basement. Water is everywhere. I have turned off the water main but I have no idea what to do next. I need to get the water out and dry everything properly to prevent mold. I have never dealt with something like this before. I do not know if I should call a general contractor or a specialized water damage company. I also need to figure out how to deal with my insurance.

Has anyone been through this? What is the first step? Who should I call for help in the Seattle area? I am feeling pretty stressed about it.

Drowning in context-switching between Slack, Notion, and Jira how do you keep track of everything?

My team and I are losing hours every week just trying to reconstruct past decisions. We constantly jump between Slack threads, Jira tickets, and Notion docs, and half my day is spent asking "where did we agree on this?" or digging through notification backlogs.

How are you guys managing context switching and keeping track of active decisions across multiple tools without losing your mind? Any specific workflows or tools that helped?

UPDATE:

Done some digging and came across Sugarbug. It's supposed to continuously aggregate background context and track temporal updates across Slack/Jira so you don't lose context. Reviews online seem pretty solid, but has anyone here used it in practice? Want some real feedback before trying to roll it out to the team

Did touring model homes completely change your opinion on a builder?

We were pretty convinced we'd already picked our builder after comparing floor plans and pricing online, so visiting model homes was really just meant to confirm the decision.

Instead, it did the opposite. Some layouts we loved on paper just didn't feel right in person, while a couple we'd almost ignored ended up feeling way more practical.

Has anyone else changed builders after actually walking through model homes, or did your first choice end up being the right one?

Edit:

Ended up going with Grand Homes. Seeing the homes in person made all the difference. We also liked that we could customize the floor plan quite a bit without going through the cost and hassle of a fully custom build.

How to get cited by Gemini and other AI models. A practical breakdown.

I recently spent a few weeks trying to understand how large language models like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude actually decide what to cite. Traditional SEO knowledge is helpful but it is not the full picture. There are some specific factors that seem to influence whether an AI will surface your content and mention your brand.

Here is a simplified breakdown of what I learned.

Visibility. The AI needs to know your content exists. This is similar to traditional indexing but there is a twist. AI models seem to prioritize content with clear structure and semantic relevance. If your page does not answer a specific question clearly, it might not be considered at all.

Citations. Even if an AI "sees" your page, it might not use it. The AI is looking for sources that provide specific, factual information or a unique perspective. I found that pages with clear data points, case studies, or step-by-step guides were more likely to be cited. Vague or generic content tends to be ignored.

Mentions. This is the crucial step. The AI might use your content as a source but still not mention your brand by name. To get a direct mention, your content needs to be clearly associated with your brand. This means having a strong entity presence and consistent branding across your site. The AI is more likely to name you if you are clearly established as the author or the primary source for that information.

Sentiment. The way the AI describes you matters. It is not just about being mentioned. The AI will assess the tone and framing of your content. If your content is balanced and objective, the AI is more likely to present you in a neutral or positive light. If your content is overly promotional or lacks evidence, the AI might be neutral or even cautious in its description.

Understanding this funnel helped me refocus my content strategy. It is not just about ranking. It is about being the clear, credible source that AI models want to cite.

To put this into practice, I started using Ayzeo to track our brand across the major AI engines. What I liked about it is that it shows the specific prompts and pages that trigger AI mentions. It also highlights technical and content gaps I would not have found on my own. For example, I discovered that some of our key pages were being cited but not mentioned, which pointed to an entity clarity issue. I also saw that a competitor was consistently getting more positive sentiment, which gave me a clear target for improving our narrative.

Getting a third-party analysis of your brand's AI visibility can reveal gaps you might not even know exist. The key is to create content that is not just good for humans but also clearly structured and relevant for AI consumption. It is a new layer of search that is only going to become more important.

Are big firm ads legit?

Hey, I'm deep into trying to get my EB-1A together and the process is draining me. I've been working on compiling my evidence for the past few months, mostly trying to frame my industry awards and press features in a way that hits the criteria, but I'm stuck on the final petition strategy. Need a solid lawyer, not a sales pitch, to help me make sense of it all.

Lately, I’m seeing ads for Davis & Associates in Dallas, everyone in Texas seems to suggest them. Are they good at handling these specific, evidence-heavy cases or just good at buying ad space? Just want to know what to watch out for when hiring a firm. How do you guys filter out the BS when looking for a lawyer? Also, for those who got approved, what was the biggest red flag you saw in potential lawyers?

First OWI in MI (Macomb County) and I'm completely panicking and need local advice

Location: Michigan
Got pulled over last night in Macomb County and blew a .14. First time ever dealing with the police, no prior record, and I’m absolutely losing my mind thinking I'm going to jail or losing my job. The court date hasn't been set yet but I know I need to move fast. Has anyone dealt with this specific county?

Update:

I’ve been aggressively googling local defense lawyers today and stumbled upon Lucido & Manzella, P.C. Their online reviews look really solid and people say they are heavy hitters in Metro Detroit, but I always trust Reddit more than Google maps reviews. Would love some real, unfiltered feedback before I call them for a consultation.

Looking for an immigration lawyer/law firm in Chicago to help my family understand the U.S. visa process

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable immigration lawyer or law firm in the Chicago, Illinois area that can help me and my family understand the process of applying for a visa in the United States.

We are trying to better understand our options, the requirements, timelines, paperwork, and any potential challenges we should be aware of before starting the application process. Since immigration matters can be complicated, we would prefer to speak with an experienced attorney who can explain everything clearly and guide us in the right direction.

If anyone has worked with an immigration lawyer or firm in Chicago that they would recommend, I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Thank you in advance!

Edit/Update:I wanted to share an update for anyone who may be looking for similar help. After receiving some recommendations, I ended up speaking with Ahlgren Law, and they were very helpful in explaining the visa process and what steps my family and I needed to take.

They took the time to answer our questions, explain the different parts of the process, and help us better understand what to expect moving forward.

I appreciate everyone who shared advice and recommendations. Hopefully, this helps someone else who is also trying to navigate the U.S. immigration process.

Have you ever used virtual assistants to manage your huge file volume?

We have reached the point where the volume of files completely blocks our core activity and I feel that we can no longer cope with the team we have in the office alone.

It seems to me that we waste too much time with repetitive administrative tasks that could be done by someone remotely, but I have reservations about how quickly an external assistant could adapt to the specifics of our office.

How did you manage to integrate virtual assistants without losing control over the quality of the files and how did you solve the problem of their rapid training?

Edit: I recently talked to Legal Staff NOW and I found it interesting that they pre-vet paralegals and bilingual specialists, so I am seriously considering hiring them for the next few months to relieve the team.

I promise I can do the placement in just 3 days, which would be a big advantage for us now that we are in a time crunch.
