Wish me good luck

I entered my amigurumi in the Texas State Fair today. Here's hoping The Scientist Formerly Known as Rick wins a ribbon.

Some of the dolls I make

When I get the chance to go to cons and meet celebrities, I like to make a crochet doll of my favorite character. So far I've only been able to meet a few:

Andrew Robinson as Elim Garak on Star Trek Deep Space 9

Kevin Durand as Vasily Fet on The Strain

jeffrey Combs as Thy'lek Shran on Enterprise

Wallace Shawn as Grand Nagus Zek on Deep Space 9

Doug Jones as Baron Afanas on What We Do in the Shadows

Grand Nagus Zek and Garak

Whenever I get the chance to meet-and-greet the DS9 cast, I make little dolls of their characters, get photos with them, and then put the dolls in my display cabinet with the photos of their respective celebrities.

I was lucky to meet Andrew Robinson back in 2023 and Wallace Shawn just a couple of weeks ago. I've also met Jeffrey Combs last year. I made a Shran doll for that photo.

Today is Rosie's gotchaversary and birthday

A year ago I found Rosie in my garage at 1:22 a.m. Her mom had given birth to her somewhere else, but brought her to my garage and left her on the blue bath mat near the food bowls I had out there for the ferals.

As soon as Walmart opened I rushed to get some formula and fed her. She was very hungry. Then I put her back out in the garage in the hopes mom would come back. For 24 hours I would feed her every 2 hours and put her back. Mom never came back.

So I brought her in and enrolled her in the foster/adoption program at the Humane Society of North Texas. The goal was to foster her until she could get adopted. They named her Rosaria,

A couple of weeks later they asked me if I could foster another singleton. I accepted immediately so Rosie could grow up with a friend. That's how we got Bennett.

Then three weeks later I found two more kittens in my garage by a different feral mom. I took them in, got them in the program, and named them Beth and Rip.

I foster failed Rosie and Rip. Ben and Beth were adopted three days after going into the adoption event. I think they went together. Rosie and Rip get along \onderfully with my two older cats. They all snuggle together.

Happy birthday, Rosie.

I made it because I'm a very silly person who loves very silly things.

Post-menopausal makeup recommendations

I'm post-menopausal and have been having problems wearing makeup these days. My doctor just shakes his head and tells me to not wear makeup.

I had a job interview last week. Wore Il Makiage foundation and Laura Geller eyeshadow. No eyeliner or mascara. Didn't bother with primer or concealer. Only wore it for an hour. During the interview my eyes started watering so bad it looked like I was crying. My skin got slightly irritated too, but it was mostly my eyes. It's six days later and my eyes are still irritated and goopy.

My brushes are cleaned on a regular basis. I use Kiehl's Calendula Deep Clean face wash and Ultra Facial Cream. My foundation and eyeshadows are only about 6 months old.

I have a follow-up job interview next week and need to not look like I'm sick. Does anyone have any recommendations for makeup that won't cause me problems?

Baron Afanas

I made Baron Afanas to get his pic with Doug Jones at the Mississippi Comic Con. The only thing that could've made it better would've been getting a remote-controlled Barbie car so I could zoom it around saying, "I'm controlling it with my mind." Doug thought it was funny and was very complimentary of it. He took three poses with me. It was his idea to pose as the Baron with me looking lovingly at him. He's such a lovely person. Worth the 7-hour drive.

Grand Nagus Zek and Baron Afanas

I made a Quark a while back, but when I saw Wallace Shawn was going to be at the Mississippi Comic Con I decided to repurpose him into Grand Nagus Zek.

There are so many great characters to make for Doug Jones, but I had to go with the hilarious Baron Afanas. The only thing that could've made it better was if I had been able to get the remote-controlled Barbie car so I could zoom it around saying, "I'm controlling it with my mind."
